Unknown Series - Your Honor (bug)

Sonarr version (exact version):
Version- 3.0.4.1026
.net Version- 4.7.2
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):
OS: win2012 server
Debug logs:
Description of issue:

I dont see why this is getting rejected as Unknown Series, maybe bc of the way the episodes are named for this paticular series? (ie part one, part two , part three …). Or bc of the (US) ? (is only “Showtime” one that shows up in search) - note there are many hits when i do an interactive search like this image below (and all show [Permanent] Unknown Series Rejection).

link from inside sonarr (ie what i added):
http://www.thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=359579

thanks!

The name of the show you want on thetvdb is “Your Honor (US)”, while in the name of that release it’s “Your Honor”, which is a different show (the original 2017 show on which the US one is based, judging from the results of this query: https://www.thetvdb.com/search?query=your+honor

thanks for the reply,
(and i do understand what you are saying)

However the torrent file is the correct show (ie its for the new 2020 “Your Honor (US)” show which airs on showtime and stars Brian Cranston).

So who is at “fault” in a (somewhat) rare case like this?

Should:
1- the torrent/release be named “Your Honor (US) S01E02…” (and btw, its not just this one me gusta group using that name, every torrent i have found across 3 different private sites are naming the episodes/shows in this same way)
(or) 2- or should TVDB be listing it as “Your Honor”
(or) 3- is there a bypass or filter i can apply in sonarr for a case like this?

(i know i can force per episode downloads via the interactive search, which i have done, but im hoping for a solution that keeps sonarr grabbing future episodes of this show without any interaction on my part)

NB: I do see clear pros and cons to each of these “fixes” for unusual cases like this.
thanks

Option 1 is something you can do yourself, somewhat. Manually send the download in sonarr to your client. If you want sonarr to import automatically, rename it to “Your Honor US” in your download client. Sonarr will then see it’s for the correct show. That is how I have done it before successfully for another show.

Option 2 will not happen. Usually these shows are easier, e.g. “Battlestar Galactica” and “Battlestar Galactica 2013”. In this case there are several 2020 shows plus the original one so that won’t work. I think as per tvdb rules it is named correct on their end.

For 3 I’ll defer to the devs. There’s no bypass in sonarr, but maybe something can be done in skyhook.

@Thirrian

There is one thing I don’t get in this issue (I have it too btw)

Sonarr has an alternate title “Your Honor” for this show (displaying on its page)
image

Isn’t the sole purpose of these “alternate titles”? Even if the release doesn’t have “US” in its name, the episode should be grabbed in this case.

Ah, interesting. In that case, yes, it should… not sure if that alternate title was added recently or not.
Does it still say unknown series on the results if you do a manual search?

That alias is specifically for LostFilm releases. An alias for MuGusta releases (that includes the full release name) will need to be submitted.

The answer to this is to get the person that put it up as a torrent to name it properly. There are a minimum of 3 “Your Honour” series, the (US) is there so we don’t download them all.

I understand all the points/issues here, (mainly the 3x from Thirrian’s reply here):

But i do feel that there should be some feature or functionality added on Sonarr to allow the user to compensate for these various “dependencies” (ie we are dependent upon tvdb to list it properly, then for the torrent/usenet poster to name it properly) - both of which we have a little to no control over (or ability to get those parties to address).
Ive come across this issue again today, but this time its seems TVdb has it wrong, and the various torrent release group have it right. (the opposite was true in regards to “Your Honor” tv show that i opened this post with).
This recent example is “The Chase (2021)” as listed on TVDB (tvdb#: 394185) however the TVDB name should really be “The Chase US” (2021)? , as there already have been many prior seasons of “The Chase” gameshow in other countries (and it just started in the US , this month). The various Torrent release groups have this one right, ie “The Chase US S01E01 720p…”

I know the solution on sonarr’s side is not clear cut (and has the possibility for causing problems/issues for users who are not aware of what they are changing) - but perhaps a per-show setting to allow
xyz Country Modifier to be forced or ignored, when searching for matching torrents/files from indexers.

ie for “The Chase” , i would force “US” country modifier to be “added” to searches (which shouldnt case more false positives as its more specific than without)
ie for “Your Honor” , i would set it to ignore the “US” country modifier on searches (which could cause more false positives as it could start matching the austrialian version, but instead it would only match torrents found within 1month of the Sonarr show’s release date - ie this would only work for episodes going forward from when the ignore the “US” country modifier is enabled)

Im trying to think of a solution that doesnt require weekly action (if xyz show is released weekly, that is).

prehaps there are better solutions than mine above (in the context of sonarr that is).
thanks
