I recently started testing the new torrent options and am currently using the TorrentBlackhole method since my client (qBittorrent) isn’t supported. Hopefully you’ll add support for it soon because it’s the best one out there IMO, and I’ve tried pretty much all of them!
Anyway, the issue is that once the download completes, it’s not being processed by sonarr unless I do a force import. Otherwise it just sits there indefinitely with the orange downloaded icon and says “Download wasn’t grabbed by sonarr, skipping” even though it obviously was…
Hopefully you can identify the issue from it. I cleared my logs and downloaded something I knew would only be found/downloaded from my torrent client. And once again when it finished downloading, it showed up under Activity saying the same things as before. Here’s a screenshot as well…
But if I click “Force import”, it moves it over and everything is fine…
Let me know if you need anything else or if you figure out the issue!
Any updates to this? I’m only asking because it’s still happening and I haven’t seen any updates for a few days now. Last night, both NCIS and NCIS LA were downloaded via torrent, and I had to “Force import” both episodes from the Activity tab because it said they weren’t grabbed by Sonarr, skipping. Both of these were auto-grabbed by Sonarr and I had no interaction until I did the import manually.
BTW, I pasted better logs just a minute ago of an episode (The Strain) manually searched for and downloaded via torrent, all the way through the “Force import” process. The other logs I posted previously had a bunch of CouchPotato junk and stuff in them… So hopefully these will be easier to read and decipher for ya.
Having the exact same problem with TorrentBlackhole. Can’t get any of the other options working reliably due to issues with magnet files. TorrentBlackhole works nicely for downloading but has this issue instead.
I think in my case the issue was related to uTorrent still seeding. Depsite the fact that uTorrent had moved / copied the file into the Watched folder and should not have been using that copy for seeding. As soon as I changed settings to stop seeding immediately this issue went away.
TorrentBlackhole is only a stop gap measure for me until I figure out why my torrent clients are not playing nice with magnet files. Is working well as an interim now
And on my torrent client, I have a Watch Folder set up (automatically download torrents from) with G:\downloads\complete\torrents\ as the path. I also have it set to download to the same folder.
So, Sonarr finds a release, grabs the .torrent file and places it into G:\downloads\complete\torrents, then my client sees it and starts the download. And it downloads it to the same location.
I have a couple questions though -
Should I have both the Torrent Folder and Watch Folder set up/set the same in Sonarr? Or should they be different/or only one of them be configured?
Does the .torrent file have anything to do with Sonarr not finishing processing? I do have the client set to remove it after starting the download.
Separate folders would be better to keep things apart (thats how it was intended to be), but that shouldn’t cause this behavior. Which version of Sonarr?
No, once its in the blackhole Sonarr doesn’t care what happens to it, it will just wait for files to get dropped into the Watch Folder.
I’m on the development branch and it’s set to auto-update.
Sonarr Ver. 2.0.0.2819
I do have it set to download the files to a temporary directory, and then move them back into the watch folder once the download is 100% complete & done seeding, just so you know…
I will try separating the blackhole and watch dirs once to see if it makes any difference. I’ll report back as soon as I get home.
AthienN this is my setup which is now working. Never know it might help.
Torrent Blackhole
Torrent folder is HTPC\Library\Unprocessed\Torrents
Watch folder is HTPC\Library\Unprocessed\Complete
uTorrent
Automatically loads .torrents from HTPC\Library\Unprocessed\Torrents and Delete loaded .torrents
Put new downloads in HTPC\Library\Unprocessed\In Progress
Move completed downloads in HTPC\Library\Unprocessed\Completed
That has been working for me for 2 or 3 days now without issue. Initially I had the exact same problem as you, even with this setup, but I had uTorrent setup to continue seeding. As soon as I set uTorrent to stop seeding immediately upon completion of download everything worked just fine.
Sorry for the late reply. It’s been a crazy last few days! Anyway, I think I figured this out finally and forgive me for wasting everyone’s time, but it’s my bad that this was happening!
I have always had Completed Download Handling (CDH) turned OFF in Sonarr because Drone Factory took care of finished downloads. But after reading that other guy’s post again, it got me thinking so I enabled it and wouldn’t you know, all of the downloads that were being marked as not grabbed by Sonarr were processed and removed from the activity queue!
So for anyone else having a similar problem, just enable CDH and you’ll be set!
Marcus, may I suggest adding a note regarding this for TorrentBlackHole? That you need to enable CDH in order for downloads via that method to be processed?
And while I have you, please add support for qBittorrent! It’s the best torrent client out there IMO!
I switched to uTorrent (from qBittorrent) only because Sonarr can talk to uTorrent. The clients seem basically equal to me. I haven’t had any problems with uTorrent nor have I lost any functionality, performance, etc. You will have to put with advertising if you use the free version.
However, if you do switch, Sonarr can also remove and delete the torrent and its files when they completely finish seeding. That functionality is optional. I turn it on so I don’t have to get involved at all. So far, it appears to work. If I decide, for some reason, I wan’t to keep a separate copy of the files, I just take the tv-sonarr label off the torrent and Sonarr ignores that torrent.
