while thinking about this i read about certificate formats which led me to consider how to convert crt to pfx. i learned that crt files usually contain only the public certificate while pfx files include both the certificate and the private key in one file. understanding this difference made me think about why my tool might take a moment when loading a crt certificate before connecting to sonarr. i am not saying this is the cause of the pause but knowing the structure of the formats helped me see how certificate handling could affect the timing of the connection.
i also noticed that the pause does not produce any log entry. the tool logs the start of the connection and then there is a blank moment followed by the next normal log entry once the handshake finishes. this makes me think that the pause occurs before logging is triggered possibly when the tool is reading or verifying the certificate internally. i want to know if this is normal behavior or if there is something about the way the tool handles the certificate that explains the pause.
