Why does manual import work with standard series type name conventions but not daily?

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5322
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):
OS: macOS, 10.14.6 (18G84)

As title

If I use the daily series type name convention (i.e. Panorama - 07/29/2019 - Boeing’s Killer Planes) then it won’t be recognised for import:

Why is this - manual import should work using either naming convention?

Manual import has no difference from automatic imports, but let’s you override Sonarr’s detection.

Is the series type set to daily? Sonarr will reject date based parsing if the series isn’t.

Beyond that we’d need to see debug logs.

Yes, usually when I need to rename a file I go to the series/episode and copy/paste the title from the modal:

Don’t think I can generate a log because I can’t run the import unless I name the file to something sonarr recognises; hence my original issue

Everything Sonarr does is logged, including parsing/processing for Manual Import.

Yes, 4MB as it mentions, per image. We’re not going to raise the limit.

The import failed to proceed because of the date named file

NB the file in finder is Panorama - 07/29/2019 - Boeing's Killer Planes.mkv - could this be a date delimiter parsing issue because finder doesn’t like colons (i.e. :) and bash obviously doesn’t like slashes (i.e. /)?

Your logs don’t even show that file being parsed.

I missed it before in the screenshot, but : isn’t a separator that Sonarr uses between values in a date, it needs to be spaces, underscores, periods or dashes.

Thanks, having more success by updating the date syntax

May I suggest the episode page, for all series types, always displays a title the user can copy/paste for use with manual import. Currently with a daily series type the title uses slashes to delimit dates when, as you point out, it should contain spaces, underscores, periods or dashes to parse correctly.
