Where does sonarr download/link episodes

Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):

Description of issue:

Sonarr is downloading / hard linking episodes in what seems to be “random” behavior. I assume this just me not understanding how sonarr works and/or how to properly configure it. I would appreciate any help with this.

For example right now, I have show X setup with path “V:\Tv\X” (use season folders is off) and yet it is downloading episodes for all shows to “V:\Tv” and hard linking it to the proper path “V:\Tv\X”. I have no idea what I changed because before it would 90% of time get it right, and mostly mess up shows with season folders (i.e. configuring “V:\Tv\X\Season 3” would confuse it).
Edit: double checking the download paths of older sonarr downloads I also see a lot of downloads to “C:\Users\User\Downloads”. I am really puzzled by the logic by which sonarr operates.

Is there any way to configure the exact path which episodes of a specific show are downloaded to and turn off this copy/hard link feature? If not can I at least configure where the hard links are created?

What is the “usual” way to configure all this?

Sonarr doesn’t download them, your download client is, it sounds like you have your download client set to download there, instead your download client should be set to download to a different folder.

Actually that might explain the behavior I have been getting, I did change the default download folder in my download client. I could swear at one point sonarr was downloading to right location but I am probably wrong and it was just evil hard links.

I guess Sonarr can’t be used as an automatically downloader for TV shows with full control of the folder structure of the downloads (I need this because not all episodes are downloaded automatically, not sonarr’s fault, but I would have expected Sonarr to be customizable enough to replace the simple RSS downloaders built into torrent clients).
