With the strict security permissions now required in Sonarr v5 on Windows, running Sonarr as a background Windows Service is now the most hassle-free setup, but not as convenient as putting it in your startup folder. With the alternative option of putting Sonarr in your startup folder, it runs in standard user mode, requiring you to shut it down and start it up as an admin for any changes that need made to its config. Standard users lose the convenience of the system tray icon.
I tried to create a scheduled task but was this was blocked due to insufficient access permission.
Could the team consider bundling a lightweight, companion utility—similar to JackettTray.exe—that sits in the system tray to let users quickly open Sonarr’s Web UI in admin mode?"
I am currently using Sonarr as a Windows Service and using an app called AutoHotKey to put Sonarr in the system tray, as a workaround.
Thank you Markus.
