Unable to parse episodes from release name

Mostly on specials, when I manually search for a show it will often show up with no option to download BUT it does show the title, so I need to manually go to the indexer and download the nzb file and then upload it to sab.

It shows a red ! with “Unable to parse episodes from release name” as the explanation.

It is for example S07.special which for sonarr to see it should be S00E07 (7th episode of specials) so how is there a way to get around this?

I don’t mind having to manual search for some things, but the annoyance is when I can see the title and the indexer after doing a manual search, and size all match what I was expecting, but the download icon isnt there. If I even click on the title, and it takes me to the indexer, it all links up perfectly

Just to edit - Looking at Sonarr, it says it is 0x08 (I assume S00E08) not 07 as I said above, however the title of the show still shows in the manual search as S07.special

Specials have always been, and always will be, a problem. They’re usually never properly named by the indexers and/or release groups, different people have different ideas about what the number should be, etc…

There is a change in the works if I recall correctly, that would allow you to force sonarr to download the episode even if sonarr can’t match it properly itself, but that was a big code change I think. Sonarr will need to keep track of it once it’s sent to the download client etc.

Your best bet for now is to search specials manually on your indexers’ site, and use the manual import process in sonarr.
