Description of issue:

After a file is processed with Tdarr, Sonarr on rescan is consistently deleting the subtitles… These are extracted SRT files. In most cases for maximum client compatibility on play back MP4 with separate SRT is preferred to an MKV. Less client problems occur. I understand this is very arguable and debatable but it is how I am supposed to optimize the data on the server.

Below is the action Sonarr is taking. How do I prevent this action?
**This has become more of an issue lately when these new shows have forced subs, but it has always been an issue.

(No one cares about your tv watching preferences FYI, you don’t need to sanitize anything. Plus it’s still possible to tell which show is being referenced…)

If you already have Import Extra Files enabled and configured in Media Management settings, then it could be related to this open bug https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/issues/3846

I don’t know if it is something that might be resolved in v4

Above logs show srt files being deleted on a sonarr disk rescan. That generally only happens if the video file itself is no longer present.
The other case is when sonarr doesn’t recognise the srt file as belonging to a video file.

Assuming another source like tdarr replaced the file… sonarr might think of I have a new video file and check out the old subs… even though they are the original and perfectly matched to the file

Can we prevent deleting of srt files?

Not if the file it was linked to was removed. If the file name remains the exact same and Sonarr doesn’t see the file as missing then Sonarr doesn’t remove the related SRT.

Converting before Sonarr imports may also be a good idea so it doesn’t see files being removed.
