In my setup I have an HTPC which stores all my media but is not always on. After downloading on my main PC, I move the files to the HTPC when it is next turned on. The issue is that because there are now no files on the main PC sonarr will download another version which is sometimes not an upgrade to the previous file. Can i avoid this? Thanks.
Take a look in:
Settings >> Media Management >> File Management.
In there, you should have an option for “Unmonitor Deleted Episodes”.
You’ll want to check that box.

Thanks for that, this will help but ideally I only want it to unmonitor deleted files where the cutoff is met. Ideally i would like to keep downloading until I get a H.265 bluray.
Can you not set your HTPC storage to be the sonarr library, and let sonarr handle moving the files when it is available?
That way
- downloads are done on your main PC
- when your HTPC becomes available, sonarr moves the files
- sonarr tracks what quality files you have on the intermittently available HTPC storage, so you can still enjoy quality upgrades
Interesting. I have my HTPC drive mapped to my main PC, so just point the move location to the HTPC? I thought that it would fail if the drive wasn’t online when it tries to move after download? If that works it would be perfect!
Haven’t done this exact scenario myself, but sonarr should be smart enough to see the storage is offline and wait until it’s back again to move things over…
Unfortunately Windoze won’t let me map a network drive when sunning as a service, I tried running normally as admin, but that didn’t work, symlinks don’t work over shared drives so it doesn’t look like I can do that. sonarr doesn’t show any of my mapped drives at all.
If you want to use a Mapped Network Drive, don’t run Sonarr as a service, run it via “tray icon”, or use the underlying UNC path instead.
I tried running it normally but sonarr still can’t see mapped drives or use UNC paths.
