Sonnar randomly not detecting completed downloads

Sonarr version (exact version): 3.0.3.671
Package version: 3.0.3.671-ls160 by linuxserver.io
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): 5.20.1.34
OS: UnRaid
Debug logs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8xp7yfpuvncno1b/sonarr.trace.txt?dl=0
Description of issue:

Sometimes downloaded episodes get stuck like this and I am not sure why is this happening.

For debuging purposes I was scanning for Letterkenny tv show.
Letterkenny-Sonarr-2019-12-26-12-04-25

The only way to fix this is to go and manually find the episode, click grab and pray to some entity that Sonarr will detect it as downloaded (for one of the episodes of another series I needed to do this five times).

I.e. if tonight 4 episodes of different shows were released, one will be detected as completed and others own. By reading log I was no able to deduce anything, but maybe someone else can.

inb4: This is the problem that I have had randomly for a long time: when I was using Windows to host Sonnar (v2 I think) and using old QNAP for storage and download. It was also the same with Unraid and older versions.

It looks like Sonarr doesn’t see any episode files in the download folder.

19-12-26 12:02:03.8|Trace|DiskScanService|14 files were found in /downloads/complete/Letterkenny.S08E02.720p.HDTV.x264-aAF
19-12-26 12:02:03.8|Debug|DiskScanService|0 video files were found in /downloads/complete/Letterkenny.S08E02.720p.HDTV.x264-aAF

Are the files in there RARed?
Or do permissions not allow Sonarr to see the files?

Permissions (and users) are the first thing I looked at and they are the same across all downloads.

The next thing was comparing releases to see if RAR is an issue and I got the same release, the same RAR package one episode gets detected another not.

At the end to test everything I logged in as system user that handles everything and I managed to unpack arhives

the logs appear to have the response from the download client showing all of those letterkenny torrents (and a lot of others) as “isFinished”:false

sonarr cant import them until the download client says they are done

it seems more like a transmission issue of some sort, does the transmission gui actually show them as done? possibly seeding?

is there any chance that youve previously download these same torrents before? sonarr will send them to be downloaded but it wont import them after the first time through (unless they found a way to fix that)

@rhom The way I understood iFinished variable is related to finished seeding. Transmission API docs say this:

isFinished 9 - True if the torrent is finished. Downloaded and seeded.

So that should not affect the detection of completed torrent. I have also not been able to find torrent with true as value since the get auto-removed once they hit ratio.

Can you (temporarily) turn this off?

Yes, I can. But it will not affect anything, since like I explained this is not happening all the time but randomly.

Sonarr relies on polling your download client to see what is available for importing (100% downloaded). If the torrent is removed, your client will report nothing…
Depending on seed goals, some torrents may be ready for importing so sonarr will do that (and link the file so it can continue seeding), and once goals have been met they will be removed (normally by sonarr, but you seem to have something do that automatically).

That could explain while some torrents are imported and some aren’t.

Not really, because there are torrents in that show that got imported with the same variable value. That is what is confusing me as at first i thought that was the issue.

Sure it does (or might, I’m not 100% sure). For example if sonarr has had the time to import it, and your seeding goal was met way later, after which the torrent was auto-removed…
