Sonnar not grabbing HEVC

My newznab provider has an HEVC category: 5200. I went into my indexer settings and made that the only category. The release I’m looking for is there as I see it on the indexer’s page. I do a manual search missing for that file and get no results. I’ve tried using a “must contain” restriction with hevc, x265, h265 and using all of the standard category numbers but that also nets me zero results.

If I delete all restrictions and remove 5200, it finds the normal SD releases so it isn’t that Sonarr can’t find anything.

Suggestions?

Do you get results in a manual search? You could also check debug logs to see which results are returned and why they are rejected.

Manual search through Sonarr = no go. Manual search on the indexer and I see it. This morning it was one of the top five most recent releases to hit the category.

This is the log where it got nothing, I removed the restriction, found the 480p release, I canceled the download and tried fiddling with the categories to restrict it to just 5200 or all of TV with HEVC in title (the file includes HEVC) and Sonarr is pulling zero.

If there are no results in Sonarr’s manual search then the indexer is not returning any results. You can take the URL that is logged in the debug logs and put it in a browser to confirm that (you’ll have to add the API key back in).

okay so manual search is pulling in releases. they’re just not downloading in the automatic search when I click to search them in the Wanted tab (or during RSS sync)

There is a red exclamation mark next to all of them, which means there is one or more “issue” as far as sonarr is concerned so it will not consider those results for automatic grabbing and downloading. E.g. unwanted quality, “must not contain” words, …

If you hover over the exclamation marks, sonarr will tell you what’s wrong. Can you check it?

Existing file meets cutoff: SDTV
Quality for release in queue already meets cutoff: WEBDL-720p v1
WEBDL-720p is not wanted in profile
Quality for existing file on disk is of equal or higher preference: WEBDL-720p v1

okay, I found the mistake. I changed the quality to HD-all, hid a file already downloaded, then searched it in Wanted and it came up. I will keep my finger crossed that this fixes the auto downloader issue.

Off topic, but what indexer do you use? None of the ones that I use have a dedicated HEVC section.

yes, all is well. Once I changed my format to HD-720p they all download. Initially I was (wrongly) thinking to choose standard based on file size, not resolution.
