Sonarr with Deluge Issues and Questions

First I want to say this software is AWESOME. I really enjoy everything about it but have some quirks and probably will post a guide to getting this working with Deluge once it all gets smooth out.

My System:
Windows Home Server 2011
Deluge 1.3.11 (works great)
Sonar 2.0.0.2850
CouchPotato 2.6.3 (works great)

Issues I need advice/help with

Downloads seem to be stuck at 100% (resolved)

Will not create a hard link when the torrent is seeding or move the files once the download is complete. The torrent gets added to Deluge fine with the correct label. Label settings are Auto-Managed On, stop seed at ratio 1.5, remove at ratio is on. Files are initially downloaded to a “temp folder” and moved to a “completed” folder when seeding. Tried searching on this issue but couldn’t find any threads that was torrent related. Logs doesn’t even show it trying to create a link or move the files once seeding is started/complete.

Sample log of all that happens (this torrent was downloaded and seeding at this point in time)

Do I need to not have any folder movement (temp -> completed) or is there something wrong with my settings? I’ve tried with auto-managed turn off with no improvement.

Unable to handle RAR files (work-around)

This is more of a personal issue due to the source of my torrents but I need any advice to this situation. I can run extractor for Deluge and drop it to the drone factory folder but I don’t know if that is the best practice as I’ll have the torrent still running and nothing that will clean up the RAR files. Also the extractor for Deluge applies to all my torrents and enabling it will mess up CouchPotatos which is working perfectly. If anyone is familiar with this situation I would love your input.

Things I’ve learned

(useful for other people who may experience the same issue)

  • If you are having issues connecting to Deluge from Sonarr and it keeps saying the test is unsuccessful, update Deluge! I didn’t think about this and spent way too much time trying to rebuild everything.
  • (not recommended) Temp fix for rar files is to just extract it manually and dump the video file in to the drone factory folder. Then delete the torrent and the original data files after seeding.
  • (new) Debug log option! It helps a lot in figuring out the issue of why importing shows was failing!
  • (new) CDH doesn’t seem to remove torrents unless you enable “Auto Managed” for the label of your downloads.
  • (resolution) CDH can’t detect rar files very well so you have to extract them via a script and dump it in your holding folder. Do not dump it inside the downloads folder or else CDH won’t be able to clean up properly after the torrent is finished seeding.
  • (new) If you use IPTorrents to download shows, it tends to always come zipped along with a sample file. This tends not to play nice with CDH so it’s best to move to a different source that doesn’t use zipped files.

Thanks in advance for the support!

What do ((debug logs)) show? Your log snippet doesn’t show anything to do with importing, bit an RSS sync.

What is shown in Activity - Queue for the items in question?

Have you tried extract it in the same place that its seeding from? This should allow Sonarr to import it with CDH instead of thinking it hasn’t been imported because it was jammed into the Drone Factory folder.

So it looks like the issue is that it doesn’t detect the rar file and only picks up the sample file therefore it doesn’t import it to the library.

Have you tried extract it in the same place that its seeding from? This should allow Sonarr to import it with CDH instead of thinking it hasn’t been imported because it was jammed into the Drone Factory folder.

Would this delete the original downloaded files after the torrent is finished (hit the seed ratio) or do I need to find another solution for this? Should Deluge be set to remove the torrent (not data) after ratio is hit)? Is there a way to test this out by pausing/stopping the torrent?

Also since extractor applies to the whole Deluge client (sadly not label based), if I had tv-shows and movies being extracted to the same location, won’t that interfere with Couchpotato? I’ll need to do some further thinking.

Thanks!!

Yeah, thats because Sonarr doesn’t handle RAR files at this time. If it imported from another location then the same issue would be present (Sonarr would see the imported file, but also see something downloading still).

You’re likely going to need a script to handle the extraction properly then, at least until Sonarr can handle RAR files (not something we’re looking at short term).
