Sonarr remote monitor / upgrade from separate machine?

First off sorry if this has been answered already. Spent a week hunting the web and couldn’t find an answer.

Can Sonarr monitor, upgrade files and trigger Plex scans on a different system or does it have to be installed on the system with the files and Plex to do this?

The reason I’m asking is because I want to run Sonarr, Radarr, Bazarr etc. (maybe Overseerr) on another system in Docker rather than my NAS which is running TrueNAS Core. TrueNAS is great for ZFS and the data hording I do but the jails / plugins are a pain in the ass (and usually out of date) so the less of them I run the better for my own sanity.

Thanks.

Before anyone says it, yes I do know about TrueNAS Scale and that it runs Docker. I’ve wasted more than enough time on and off over months on that steaming pile of a Docker & Kubernetes mess lol.

As long as the apps can access the file system with read and write access you’re fine

Though see the docker guide and trash’s guide for how to setup docker right

Thanks.

I was trying to do it through Docker but Ubuntu was being stupid with shares and things. Using the Windows programs now and I’ve got it working decent enough for testing. I think this is the way I’ll be doing it from now on.
