Description of issue: I had to format the drive I’m keeping all my media on. Sonarr now refuses to recognize that files have been deleted, which I’d like for it to do while I have it set not to unmonitor deleted files (and it would help me keep track of what I’ve managed to restore). It looks like it’s seeing the series folders don’t exist and completely skipping over updating those series, including to say the episodes have been deleted.
Correct, Sonarr needs to see at least one folder (for any series) in the root folder (parent of the series folder) to indicate that the drive is properly mounted, at which time Sonarr will see all the files are missing and update accordingly. You’ll probably want to make sure Ignore Deleted Files is disabled otherwise Sonarr will unmonitor them when it sees the files are missing.
