Sonarr moving and renaming files when it shouldn't be

Sonarr version (exact version): 4.0.10.2544
OS: Debian
Debug logs: I can provide if necessary
Description of issue:

I’d prefer if Sonarr did not copy or rename files at all- just find them, tell Qbittorrent to download them, and move on. I’m running it on a Raspberri Pi and I want to conserve space as much as possible. I’ll copy them to my NAS with the rest of my media on my own (or not, if I’m just taking advantage of a freeleech or something).

This is the behavior I’d expect based on how my settings are configured (below).

However, if Sonarr must make a copy of it, I’d rather it be somewhere that’s not the downloads folder. Then I’ll move it to my NAS from there.

Here’s a screenshot of my settings. Notice the root folder is /tv which is where I’d assume Sonarr would copy a file to if I wanted it to. The next screenshot is of the Activity > History page clearly showing that it downloaded the file and copied it do /downloads

Yes, absolutely.

Do you run sonarr and/or qbit in docker? Then those are poorly chosen mounts, take a look here: Hardlinks and Instant Moves - TRaSH Guides

Logs: here you are, I hope this works. Let me know if you need something else.

Yeah, it’s running in Docker. I did review the folder structure advice you linked to (either that exact thing or something extremely similar) and I don’t fully understand what it’s telling me or what I’m doing that’s different.

for what it’s worth, here’s how my folders are set up

-- User
---- Appdata
------ sonarr <-- this is where config stuff is
---- [handful of other folders]
---- Downloads <-- this is where Sonarr downloads to
---- Videos
------ Movies <-- this is the root folder for Radarr
------ TV <-- this is the root folder for Sonarr

Let me know how I should change this, if this is the problem.

I had had a different setup, but I was getting yelled at by Sonarr that downloads were going to the root folder, so I switched to this, which is what I thought it wanted.

I figured out what was going wrong!

I had shows set up to download when they get released. Then I remapped the folders and set the new root folder and was wondering why they weren’t moving to the right place. But I realized that when I set them up to download at release, I set the folder to move it to. So I just had to go back and reset the target folder to the new root.
