Sonarr manual update process

Hi Guys,

I have issues with mono and updating. Although I’ve managed to workaround these issues I would like to know more information on the update process. I’ve looked over the wiki at Updating however it has no explanation in how to perform a scripted update rather than using the GUI.

I could simply replace my sonarr directory with the more recent version making sure my config stays the same. However I’m unsure if its safe to do so with Sonarr.

Can someone please explain the process for upgrading Sonarr outside the GUI?

Thanks,

Your config (AppData) and startup directories should be separate, otherwise auto-update would wipe the config during cleanup, but yes its that simple, stop Sonarr, replace the contents of the Startup folder and start Sonarr up again.

If the issue with updating is the updater being unable to find the process, update mono, this appears to be fixed in 4.0.4.

Thanks for clarifying. My concern was updates to the database or if the upgrade mechanism required pre-upgrade steps.

It is indeed down to Mono 4.0.3 but unfortunately FreeBSD repos via pkg or ports isn’t at 4.0.4 or 4.0.4.4 yet. I could do a manually install of Mono, but that could course issues.

Hopefully by the time of the next upgrade I can upgrade Mono, but if not I’ll just do it manually like you described.

Thanks,

The database is upgraded as part of Sonarr starting, so nothing to worry about there.

No sense updating mono manually when a new release should come out and save you the hassle.
