Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5054 Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): 5.4.1.6 OS: Ubuntu on Odroid C2 aarch64 Description of issue:
Sonarr is showing episodes of a certain series on the wrong date. This is the only series I’ve seen issues with.
Sonarr is listing “Come Dine With Me” episodes as having aired the day prior to their actual airdate. I know this, because I’m one of the contributors to the TVDB entry for the show.
Here’s what theTVDB says:
Here’s what Sonarr shows:
(Note the difference between dates for highlighted episode; all are like this)
My timezone is UTC-05:00 and the show airs in UTC+00:00. The show has no air-time on TheTVDB, probably because it’s inconsistent and first-aired at different times (afternoons, prime time, sometimes weekends…), but shouldn’t that be irrelevant as theTVDB doesn’t track timezones anyhow? Is guide information being pulled from elsewhere? Even if it was, recent episodes should be airing at 12:30 UTC-05:00 and should appear on the same day.
I will also add that yes, my system clock is correct — time- and timezone-wise.
Tvdb doesn’t use timezones, that’s correct. but they basically assume that the time entered is the one used by the network. For US-based networks this is usually EST. For BBC show it’d be UK time.
Sonarr knows which network the show airs on and assumes the Air Time is in that timezone.
This allows it to convert the time to the appropriate ‘local’ time for the user. Which indeed means that most US shows are listed on the next day at 4ish AM on the calendar.
Right now Come Dine With Me airs at 5.30pm on Channel 4, which translates to 12:30 pm EST. That air time (5:30pm) should be added to the tvdb show metadata and updated if the timeslot of the series changes.
Tvdb doesn’t have an ‘air time’ override per episode, so setting the most common airtime on the series level is the most you can do.
When in doubt, ask the TheTVDB mods to get a definitive answer on which Air Time should be added.
Sonarr doesn’t default to midnight, it actually ends up choosing EST as the timezone (if Sonarr doesn’t know the timezone) and using whatever time specified on the TVDB and adjusting things accordingly. This looks like the show’s air time was set to midnight for some time (and since been changed) since it rolled it back to 7 PM EST.
Currently the show is showing the correct airdate and time for me though.
