Searching by Season NUMBER instead of Season Year (i.e. using tvRage instead of theTVDB)

I have a few shows (e.g. Frontline, NOVA, Horizon) that are not found by Drone.
I believe this is because Drone bases its searches on the TVDB naming convention (e.g. for Frontline this is Season 2014). Can I somehow adjust this to have drone search by the convention set by TVRage instead? (e.g. Frontline S32E##)

This is the only feature that is keeping me from switching from SickRage at the moment.

Thanks in advance…

drone relies on thexem.de to be setup for these shows, as described in the wiki: https://github.com/NzbDrone/NzbDrone/wiki/FAQ#how-does-nzbdrone-handle-scene-numbering-issues-american-dad-etc

Once those shows are added correctly then drone will use them.

Thanks,

I did read that and also did make an account on Thexem. But that site appears to be coping with some CSS problem (or it just happens to not display properly on any of my machines/browsers). I can not really make out how to use that site or request these shows to be added. I will keep my eyes open on it an monitor it.

So, Its in TheXEM now, but the logs still show “[Horizon : S2014E07]” when it should be by season #?

@Snupple TheXEM doesn’t know about anything past tvdb S2014E05, which means neither will drone. TheXEM will need to be updated.

Ahh yes, this works perfectly… You are doing a good job with this!

I’ve been trying to update Thexem for this, but it got quite confusing…

I asked for some assistance on the IRC channel but think I ended up confusing the other person… (seems like shows like this with many seasons tend to get very complicated…)

I would not mind helping or fixing the Thexem.de DB (doing the grunt work so to speak, as I was informed this gets really tedious), the problem is I can not really figure out exactly what it is I am supposed to do.

I read all the documentation, but can’t say that really clarified anything…

I’m with you. I’ve NEVER been able to do ANYTHING on thexem. It seems like they lock a show to a particular “trusted” person or something, so when that person fails at the task, we’re left with no ability to do anything. I created an account there and I see no ability to anything at all.

What I’m confused with is where Drone is getting the info before checking TheXem? I thought it was tvdb. But when I look at a show like American Restoration, Drone says I missed two episodes on Monday. Well, that’s not true - it airs today (Thursday). So I figured tvdb had it wrong… but no, they correctly show it on Thursday (ie. not yet aired). I looked at TheXem and it only has the previous season.

@mannerisms Horizon is fixed now, it was a bit complicated given it uses direct connections, but you can see in the change log what I did: http://thexem.de/xem/changelog/1066 (added 2 episodes to, scene, master and tvdb, then made a direct link for the each of the episodes from master to tvdb, per: http://thexem.de/faq - near the bottom).

@absteeve there are two reasons why you might not have been able to, one, you need to start a draft (in the toolbox menu) and two if someone has a draft pending it needs to be approved (or deleted) before another draft can be made.

As for the air dates being wrong, drone gets its series/episode information from trakt.tv, not tvdb directly, trakt gets it “daily” from tvdb (I quote daily because it doesn’t update all shows every day, but most shows are), you can also force a sync for a series if you’re a premium member. Once trakt updates its will pick it up in drone (within 12 hours).

Trakt is just messed up on it. It correctly says it airs on Thursdays but then it shows Monday as the airdate for E01 and E02 (both of which are, to date, unaired… they air in about 3 hours).

Yes I now about the draft thing with xem and that’s why its pretty useless. A draft is always pending, never approved and never deleted and I never get to do anything to correct it. I’ve tried maybe a dozen times and I’m batting zero percent. Sure, they are obscure TV shows… but the mainstream ones work correctly. Its the obscure ones that need help from people like me that are fans of the show but aren’t otherwise very active in this “scene”.

ps. sorry for confusing my username again. I realized this time that its lastpass that was auto-filling my old username.

Yeah, some idiot (as I talk about some more below) set the wrong dates in tvdb and they were pulled in. The airs day can be off when a show changes days as well (CSI was for a long time). Drone will still grab them when they come out and eventually trakt will sync the corrections.

The problem isn’t the drafts, they’re there to keep the idiots at bay (otherwise it becomes a mess like tvdb), unfortunately it can be cumbersome to go through and approve them when you don’t want the show or don’t understand the complexities. I know I’ve looked at some series and have no clue if its right or not.

Wonder if I can merge your two accounts… If I can I’ll nuke absteeve

Yeah, sorry about the two-accounts thing. I guess I created one and then didn’t realize it when I created the next. Yes, please dispose of absteeve if you can. Or don’t bother… I’ve now turfed it from my lastpass so it won’t accidentally auto-log me in with that account.

Why is “the scene” so f’d up in their naming?

American Restoration did air last night. As of today, Drone didn’t download. Well I wonder why! It is CLEARLY season 6 episode 1 according to the official site, TVDB, and everyone else… yet the group decides to tag it on to last year and calls it S05E14 and 15. Why do they do stuff like that?

edit: and now I notice after this morning’s nzbdrone update… American Restoration on Drone follows the scene naming (ie. continuing S05 instead of starting S06) so I’m really confused

I should stop watching shows on History Channel lol

edit 2: wow. OK, it looks like its just me that’s slow. According to the official source (http://www.history.com/shows/american-restoration/episodes) the scene got it right. But this info JUST YESTERDAY said “a new season”. Weird.
