Restart not same as service restart

Hey guys

This is something I’ve been noticing kind of subtly for quite a while now but only just really confirmed to my satisfaction. What I’ve noticed is that using the restart through the GUI does not behave the same as doing a windows service restart. I’ve observed the difference several times now, where a GUI restart did not fix problems, but a windows service restart did.

I guess maybe there’s a reason under the covers, but just in case this is not by design then maybe it’s a good thing to at least mention?

If you’re running Sonarr as a service the service is restarted when you restart Sonarr.

It’s pretty hard to argue with code I can’t say it’s been scientific, but I’ve seen this behaviour on more than one machine. Very rarely, mind. Next time I’m experiencing weird issues that don’t go away with an online restart I’ll take some logs and see if I can track what’s going on. It never happens at a convenient time though
