Description of issue: How do I remove all the entries in Activity/History? I appear to be able to do that in most other screens. Tks, Bill
You’re not really meant to, Sonarr relies on it’s history for some checks.
Why do you want to clear the history?
Same reason we all use VPN’s that don’t keep logs.

He and I aren’t the only ones pushing for this. First for what checks? Any info Sonarr needs to do it’s just grabbing files does not need to be HUNDREDS of pages. If Sonarr can’t use the info from say the last day or two there is something wrong.
There are literally 520 pages, 11,000+ entries going back to 2020. Kind of “Nuts” if this is really required…

Of the the 4 things listed under Activities including activities itself all can be cleared except for history. Luckily for now I just had a new media stack in Podman built for me so my history is clean. As to points made above with no history Sonarr has grabbed at least a couple dozen items without issue.
I have poked around in the Sonarr folders and nothing obvious appears to help me trim them back to something reasonable. Like last 30 days or Way less. 6 years of data is not good. It would suck if I have to uninstall and reinstall just to make this right.

The History is used by Sonarr to determine the internal state of downloads and history items as reported by the download client's api, in order to avoid trying to import them again.
I call pure BS cause most likely 95% or better make sure to uncheck an item so it’s not searched for again once they’ve got the version they want.
Looks like I lied, cause I unchecked the wrong item and couldn’t remember what it was so I restored a backup only to find I have 260 pages under History. This means even if one resets Sonarr, restores it with a saved backup ALL there history is restored.
Has anyone figured out how to restore Sonarr without the History? It would “really really” suck to wipe and reinstall and have to manually input all the show & other data to get it backup and running without all that totally unwanted and completely unneeded history. Obviously, I could set it all back up manually and not have or need any of that data.

Believe it or not, I agree with you, IMO there is no need for it to keep tens of thousands of lines of logs from multiple years ago.
But there are way’s of speaking to people who donate their time to a “pet project” that makes them little to no money. Nobody “deserves” answers or is “Entitled” to force a change.
From what I can see you have been perfectly reasonable in putting your reasons across but ultimately if the Dev doesn’t want to make the change himself you are left with limited options (which I see you are investigating).
Got to just love how he just glossed over the main reason for the post and that is no real reason given for keeping the data FOREVER. FanBoy needs to move on cause again only came in to TROLL.
I have found the 11k entries in the .db file using DB Browser for SQLite . Literally 11,410 records and the table is called History. First record is from December 2019, I am sure I don’t need that one…
I need to figure out how to purge that and then move that back into the Sonarr folder I got it from.
I guess I will do a backup first…haha…
I wish I had paid more attention in SQL classes…
I deleted everything in that table then moved it back. But all 11,410 records are still there. But the number of Pages went from 260 pages to 46. I guess the pages are a lot bigger for some reason. I ran the housekeeping task and all the others except backup. Let me go back and PACK the db to see if that helps.
Ok, I also had to remove everything in the downloadHistory table too. And I did a Vacuum which seems to have worked. My history in Sonarr is clean. I hope it keeps working. I think I will pause SABnzbd for a while and watch what it tries to DL. Fingers Crossed… -Bill
