Description of issue: I’m looking for assistance with the remote mapping. Some background on my setup before I explain my issue.

I have my main Plex host locally in my home. This runs Plex on Windows Server, and 2 VMs (both Win10). One VM for Sonarr, Radarr and torrents, the second is for websites. Have been using this setup for about 2 years now.

I was recently given access to a remote VPS (running Win Server 2016) located in Paris with a 10gigabit/5gigabit connection & 6TB of storage, and I’m moving my torrent client to the VPS and off my home network, but am leaving Sonarr and Radarr on the local host VM.

I have Sonarr and Radarr communicating perfectly with the remote VPS. Downloads go through on qBittorrent without a hitch. I then am using SyncThing to monitor the Sonarr category folder on the VPS. Completed downloads are then sent to my VM that is running Sonarr via SyncThing. This works great as well. I’m still using the Drone factory atm (I know I shouldn’t :frowning:) for when the download contains rars, and Sonarr picks those up just fine.

The only time I’m having an issue is when the download is not archived and is just a media file that needs imported to my Plex folders. I’m running NeoRouter to have local file share access to the VPS via network drives. However, anything I try to transfer via this or any other simaliar app (Hamachi, OpenVPN, etc) I end up with horribly slow transfer speeds. SyncThing transfers fine though.

My question is, how exactly does remote mapping work? At the moment, these are my settings for Remote Mapping.

Host: 10.0.0.2 (Address for VPS remote file share through NeoRouter)
Remote Path: \\10.0.0.2\Sage (User Folder)\Documents\Torrents\Downloading\Sonarr\ - (This is the folder my torrents on the VPS are downloaded to)
Local Path: Z:\Sonarr\ - (This is where SyncThing places the file downloaded from the Sonarr folder on the VPS, to my VM. This is a local 500GB hard drive, not a network drive.)

There’s no permissions errors, and I can manually import files from the Z: path with Sonarr. It does not pickup downloads on it’s own. I’m getting an error in the logs because Sonarr is seeing the path from the remote torrent client obviously, so I don’t know where else to go.

I’m sure it’s me not understanding how Remote Mapping works. I checked the Wiki and a few tutorials, but nothing really explained it very well.

Thanks! Hope I was clear and didn’t ramble too much. Please let me know if I need to clarify something.

It looks like your remote path is wrong, it needs to be the path your download count reports. You’re telling Sonarr where the download client’s days the files are and where Sonarr can actually pick them up, which appears to be on C:\ on the remote server.

Also make sure the host field matches the host field for the download client (in Sonarr’s settings).

Awesome! That works! Thank you so much!

I had used the C: path initially, but I was confused on what the host should actually be. I assumed it was just a label so I was putting a random name. Looks like I just need to put the external IP for the VPS and it worked perfectly.

This also fixed my Radarr, kind of obvious that I would, but pointing it out in case this info is used at a later date

Thanks again!
