Profile settings help

Hi,

Hoping someone can help me with a profile setup.

I would like to set things up so that I can download SDTV versions of episodes as a preference but if not available to grab one of the HDTV720.

I have set one up like this:

Today it grabbed a HDTV720 version of a show off usenet, but then found an SDTV version on a torrent indexer, deleted the 720 version and replaced it with the SDTV version.

How should I configure the profile so that it won’t download a SDTV if it has a HDTV720 already and also won’t download a HDTV720 in preference over a SDTV? Is it possible?

Place SDTV as the lowest entry in your profile (drag/drop) and set the cutoff to SDTV.

like this?

Yup, it will now stop at any quality you have selected.

A word of caution, with that profile you consider HDTV to be better than bluray.

In this case it would probably help in his desire to grab the smallest relase.

Then he should’ve kept the SDTV as highest quality, but simply put the cutoff on Bluray-720p, then it grabs a single release and never looks back.

I’m still having issues with this. I’ve been getting occasions where sonarr will grab a 720 episode and will then delete that and download an SD episode to replace it.

Is it even possible to do what I want?

preferably just download SD. If no SD is available, download an 720 and don’t try and download a SD afterwards if I already have it in 720.

How would you set that up? Can the profile logic even cater for that? Maybe sonarr needs a setting that says do not download anything if episode exists?

Easily. But what about the wiki is unclear on this point? There are several examples and scenarios that are explained.

It’s fairly straightforward if you walk through these three steps when creating/modifying a profile:

  1. (Advanced Settings only) Order the qualities from ‘most-wanted’ to ‘least-wanted’. (in your case: SD, 720p, the rest)
  2. Disable the qualities you don’t want at all, enable the ones you want to be grabbed. (in your case: only SD & 720p enabled)
  3. Set the cutoff to the least-wanted quality you’re ‘satisfied’ with. (in your case 720p)
