Out of network, API access only

Sabnzbd+ added a new feature in its alpha to only allow API access through the internet. This allows me to use the browser when I’m at home and an Android app when I’m not. I don’t want to set up Sonarr with a login page because I don’t want to have to login every single time I access Sonarr when I’m doing it locally. Adding this feature doesn’t really seem too hard, if the request is not coming from an internal IP address (which is specified, just like sab’s) only let API calls through. This is the only thing stopping me from opening Sonarr to the internet and it’s a real bother.

If you go to settings>general in sonarr, under authentication you can choose “Forms (Login page)”. With that set you only have to login once. There is an option to check “Remember Me” when logging in.

While I understand that this is a workaround, that remember me option doesn’t work for me. I rarely keep the same cookies for a few days and I’m always on a new device that seems to ask me for the password again. It’s a minor inconvenience but it’s still an inconvenience. I would be ok with a login screen if I didn’t need to share this service, but I have roommates that access sonarr as well and it’s more of a headache to enable a login screen than to just not use internet access. The API only feature would be a solution to my problem.

This isn’t something that we’re going to look at implementing at this time, we’re still considering guest access, but nothing confirmed at this time.
