Non-sample file detected

Just wondering if someone could help me figure out what this means?

Non-sample file detected: </path/to/downloaded/file>

This just started last night, and I’m not sure if it’s happening on multiple downloads or not, but it has happened on this one particular episode (Falling Skies) twice (2 separate NZB’s). Any ideas?

Not sure what else to post to help you figure it out? Let me know what else is needed, if anything.

Thanks for the reply Markus. I’m not entirely sure what the issue was, but it apparently worked itself out sometime between my original post and now, because the erros are gone and the episode finally post-processed. So I guess we can just mark this as resolved for now, and I’ll open a new post if it ever happens again along with the debug logs, etc.

I encountered this same logs and the episodes won’t post process. Do I need to provide logs for this or is there already a fix?

There is no reasonable way this file could be parsed to an actual episode, look at the filename: F:\SAB\for_processing\Drone\Hawaii Five-0.S05E06.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-KiNGS\rara5000.mkv

In this case its not an error, its saving you from deleting a file without importing anything.

What do you mean? But that is the filename itself that was downloaded. Is it not in a format that is recognizable by sonarr? What do you mean saving me from deleting that file?

rara5000.mkv - it contains no information on the actual episode (season/episode) which is required to determine which episode it is.

The alternative is the file is deleted, nothing is imported and its left as missing. Its left behind so you can correct the issue and import it, we’ll be adding the ability to do this from the UI in the future.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but this is exactly what I’ve been seeing.

After about a week, my sonarr temp directory will have 3-6 episodes sitting in there. Funny thing is, the episodes will also be imported fine.

Finally was able to find one of these in the debug logs (wow, it generates a lot of logging!). Here’s what it looks like:

If I’m reading this correctly, it looks like the nzb/archive itself has two copies of the same episode in it (why does this seem to be so common??). So Sonarr imports the file, but then won’t delete the directory since there is another non-sample video file?

In another case (not the logs, but what I found in the directory) it had some extra .rar files. So I assume that also prevented the folder from getting deleted.

I wonder if in both cases, if sonarr imports the episode, if there can be a toggle to delete a non-empty directory if the import was successful?

Either the release had two video files in it or your downlosd client extracted the same file twice (both are odd).

We have no plans to add a switch to delete non-empty folders, this could cause issues with season packs and we prefer to play it safe.
