Newbie Help - rar files

Sonarr version (exact version): 4.0.8.1874
OS: Synology DSM 7.x

Apologies for the long note here as I am a newbie and have been trying to get this working for a couple days now. I would like to avoid downloading RAR files generally but can’t seem to find out how…

Why though?

Many releases are RAR’d as part of the obfuscation process. Most/all download clients can handle extraction as part of post-processing.

Better just to get your setup working with archived downloads than try and avoid them. IMHO.

Thanks for the reply and assistance. I’m using Transmission which I don’t believe will extract the rar files, and given there are plenty of other file options would just like to avoid them.

Either way, not a Sonarr thing.

Again, best solution is to get your setup working with RAR. Look into unpackerr

Otherwise have to check if it’s something you can specify re what results your indexer returns, or whether you can get your download client to reject any downloads that contain RAR.

It’s rare for any show or movie to rar’ed.

A usenet vs torrent difference perhaps. Or indexers used. Or consistency preference. Pretty much any scene and even P2P release starts out RAR’d. Close to 100% of my releases for TV, anime and movies are all RAR’d.

And, all that aside. Still not a Sonarr thing.
