Just curious if you have a timeline on the release or preview of the new version of drone. I am guessing it will pull all the settings and shows from the current version ??.
No ETA, at the rate we keep improving things it may take forever. Realistically though, we’re trying to focus on core things right now, things that have to be there for it to be functional.
Settings/Series wise, right now, things are completely incompatible, we’re moving away from SQL CE (Windows only) to SQLite (which should work everywhere). In addition to the DB engine changing, there are a lot of underlying changes to the database structure, making it more difficult. Ultimately we want to include a conversion tool, either baked into the new release or as a separate tool, there are pros and cons to both options, so we will weigh those as we approach release. While the goal will be to migrate as much data as possible across, its likely there will be some settings that need to be handled manually as well as rescanning of episodes.
Initially we will likely release without a conversion tool, to our pre-release testers only and testing can begin if they choose.
Nice, sounds like a lot of work and effort is going into it. I have not looked back since moving away from sb and drone just goes from strength to strength. Good idea moving to SQlite it is indeed a more robust and multi os platform to work with.
I am not bothered about a conversion tool as an hour’s work or so of putting in the shows i am currently monitoring would be a simple task.
we basically deleted all of our UI code and started from scratch. also on the back-end most of the code has been rewritten. I don’t think there is any part of the app that hasn’t seen a major overhaul. All in all I think vNext will be a worthy successor.
sounds awesome maybe at some point when you have something to show perhaps some screenshots for a little eye candy so we can have a bit of an idea of what to expect
no rush with this of course but would be cool to see some images of how it progresses until you are ready to release a version
Here are a few, things may change a bit from these, but overall its the way we’re heading:
Multiple Series views (also will have a standard table):
Upcoming with Calendar (You can move forward and back on the calendar):
Page header:
Settings (The ? after the control will show tips):
So cant wait!..it looks hot!
Looking forward to giving it a test run.
wow those screens look great i especially love the Poster view with all the series and the info below
this i going to blow sickbeard out of the water when released sickbeard already looks old but this is gonna make it like sickbeard is running on a 486 computer whilst nzbdrone is running on a water-cooled Core i7
(stupid analogy i know but you get what i am saying
anticipation building
any ETA?

Still a no.
It looks great - can’t wait !!
It looks awesome! I’m excited to try it!! NzbDrone 4ever.
Useless fun fact of the day,
we have been working on vnext for a few months now, we have a server that automatically builds and tests nzbdrone everytime a new changeset has been pushed to github. our build number for vNext started from 0. and this is where we are now (notice the number after 8.0.0.*) thats our build number.

Lies! 745 was the first build, with a few builds on master (bug fixes mostly), but 440 builds since Jan 27th.
any update on vnext
its going pretty well, I personally started using it this weekend replacing my stable installation. There are lots of things that are still missing or broken but should be ready for alpha testing soon.
we still have no ETA for ETA.
i am not sure if this has been requested (i think it has) but will there be some sort of implementation for a blacklist or a function to stop certain release groups from being scanned if so we could then create a thread on the forum where people can report what groups or posters they are seeing incomplete or more like passworded files coming from so people can then update their lists of these bad groups or posters
if this would be implemented it would then probably be a good idea to add something to nzbdron maybe in the history page (or whatever is replacing it if there is something) to be able to find out what group or poster the nzb grabbed was from sort of like how in history hovering over a icon of a indexer gives you the name of the indexer
still excited to see this and glad to see it is in the testing stages would love to see more pics at later stage or even just some more info on how it is running day to day
These two apply, but work hasn’t started, right now we’re concerned with restoring previous functionality, then we’ll move to features.

By group what do you mean? a.b.tv or a.b.teevee, etc? That information is stored in the NZB and it can be multiple per NZB, it is up to the download client which to use, so that information would not be shown. If you mean the Release Group you can view that already in History (click the row for details). As for the poster, thats not likely something we’ll add either.
If you wish to make a feature request, please ensure it doesn’t already exist and follow the proper procedure, I don’t want this thread getting polluted.
