New Router Problems

Hi

I have just upgraded my TP Link router and i have a support question. The scenario is my HTPC in my lounge that hosts the nzbdrone program, what i used to be able to do is browser from my Mac browser ( and even my iPad ) using the http://192.168.1.101:8989 and use the program this way as my HTPC doesn’t have a monitor, its a great way to access the program. However now i have upgraded i can’t access it. I wondered if there is anything i needed to do to the router or program.

Just to be clear i can still access SABNZDB using http://192.168.1.101:8080 on my mac browser so the ip address has not changed from 192.168.1.101

Any ideas on how to fix would be great.

Is drone running on the HTPC still? Unless something changed with the IP or port it should be accessible.

NZBdrone is working fine on the HTPC but i can’t access it via my browser on my other computers or iPad. As i said i don’t have a monitor on my HTPC so the only way to monitor or make adjustments is via the mac browser. This has been working great until today when i upgraded the router.

If it works from other systems it should work fine. Try restarting drone/the HTPC. What browser are you using Safari? Try Chrome?

I have rebooted the system and drone. On the mac i use both safari and chrome and its not working.

Strange thing is i can access plex, CP and Sab via the browser on my mac with no issues. This has only happened since the router updated. I noticed you pushed through a new update over night ? Could that have done something ?

Ill keep playing testing stuff out.

I just upgraded to the new TP Link which has dual band 2.5ghz and 5ghz. But i don’t see the dual banding stuffing things up as it would be for all programs I’m accessing. The only thing i could think of is a port allocation within the router that may be blocking me from access :8989

It shouldn’t be blocked unless it goes through the WAN port (which means its not on your LAN).

New update didn’t change anything related to the webserver.

Thats whats strange the HTPC is on the LAN as I’m picking up other programs via the same way using the browser and 192.168.1.101

What OS is running on your HTPC? Grab a netstat and see what ports are listening. If it’s listening on the correct ports (assuming 8989 based on your first post) then from your Mac, open terminal and type ‘telnet 192.168.1.101 8989’ without the quotes of course. If it returns something like:

$ telnet 172.16.11.51 8085
Trying 172.16.11.51…
Connected to 172.16.11.51.
Escape character is ‘^]’.
^]
telnet> quit
Connection closed.

Then it’s connecting, if it doesn’t and it looks more like:

$ telnet 172.16.11.51 8085
Trying 172.16.11.51…

and just hangs there, then the port is being blocked either by your router/firewall or by you HTPC. If it’s being blocked and you can confirm it’s not your HTPC, then I would go to your router mfg for support.

Hey Caleb

Thanks for that mate, i tried what you mentioned and yes its stuck on Trying 192.168.1.101…

As i mentioned in my first post i upgraded my tp link router to a newer model, it worked great before this change. I just find it strange that i can access other programs like SAB and CP this way but can no longer see Drone.

OS on HTPC is running windows 7

Right , I fixed it. Thanks for the help any guys. Caleb as you mentioned it could be the htpc and the firewall i checked the exceptions level and also turned on the public button which made access to the drone via the browser.

It must of switched it self off when i installed the new router this morning.

Thanks Mate.

glad you sorted it i was going to mention either a firewall issue or you needed to clear the browser cache (cookies,etc…)

i remember a while ago before i knew what the solution was that i could not access the nzbdrone from another computer on the network until i set a firewall permission for the port and then boom it works
