Description of issue:
Hi, I am not sure how to fix my issue. I recently moved from Windows to Unraid and after following the Trash Guides to install Sonarr, Prowlarr and Radarr I followed it to the letter. The only issue is: that new episodes go to the “Wanted” tab but never get automatically grabbed. I have RSS Search Auto Search and Interactive Search Enabled in Sonarr so I am unsure what I could’ve done wrong. I have attached the logs that should include it trying to search for “Married at First Sight” which I was able to manually search and download manually. It’s for every new TV show too, they go to “Wanted” but not auto-download. I have set up Torrentleech with Prowlarr as my indexer. Thank you in advance for any help.
First thing I would do is check if the most recent files are outside you preferred size range. Out of the last 20 or so files here at least 10 fell outside of bthe range I have set forcing me to do a manual search for them. Normally I might have 1 file a month that this happens with.
I checked that and the quality minimum definitely seems ok. I have it set to the trash guided size and from what I can tell the minimum size is definitely lower than the episodes size of the shows I am looking for
OK just had the current episode for The Head and Silo and none in the range I set. Had to settle for as close I could get. Pisses me off cause I adjust twice in the past because of what the scene was doing. Now looks like I have to adjust again. It’s stupid for the scene to up the sizes for the quality cause it does not change, just a large file for the same quality the smaller size had. It’s almost like they’re playing a game of lets see who can make the enduser use the most space up.
That’s not how Scene releases work. They have very strict specifications for the sake of consistency. All scene releases have maintained the same bitrates between releases. That’s the whole point.
Eg. for 1080P
Encoding: H264
Bitrate: 10.1 Mb/s
Audio Format: E-AC-3 (Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos)
Audio Rate: 768 kb/s @ 6 channels
Audio Lang: English
What did change between episodes is the runtime. Longer runtime = larger file. Eg. This week’s Silo episode was a whole 12 minutes (25%) longer than last week. 60 mins vs 48 mins. The size of the release was therefore also 25% larger than last week. The quality, on the other hand, should be identical.
And the length is addressed in the quality settings. I have had plenty of shows that are normally 42 minutes and all of a sudden there are episodes 50 mins to over and hour and sonarr has grabbed them. I have at least a dozen files in the last week that were not grabbed because everything out there was either smaller than allowed for the specified length or larger than what is allowed.
Then it sounds like you’re being too restrictive with your custom Quality Definitions, if you are just trying to control based on file size alone. There can still be some fairly significant fluctuations based on the originating source of the content (Eg. Amazon vs Apple), and even between shows from the same provider.
Unsure of your reasons for trying to exert such granular control over what is downloaded, but if you haven’t already you may wish to look in to shifting to / incorporating Custom Formats into your formula. Gives you a lot of additional control over what is or is not downloaded.
Trash has a lot of info and a large collection of existing CF that you can either use directly, modify to suit your needs or use as reference to create your own.

Lets stop blaming the enduser for some thing that has always worked with the shows I have until now.
Or you could stop hijacking another users’ topic and post your own with all required info. For what it’s worth, there’s no fire and forget setup, things do change and eventually you’ll need to tweak settings to deal with those changes.
I provided information trying to correct some misconceptions, educate and explain why you’re encountering issues, and even offered a more recent and dynamic alternative that might help reduce/remove future issues.
“It worked until now” means nothing more than that. You customized your setup, and it worked, until it didn’t. That just means that the arbitrary limits you put in place are too restrictive for the content you’re wanting to download. That’s not blame, that’s just facts, and math.
