Still no crashes! Seems relatively safe to say the issue is fixed, and the same issue affected both Physical as well as Virtual Machines.

I followed your instructions for 14.04 trusty, updated my kernel to 3.13.0-54 and didn’t crashed for 24+ hours.

Now it’s wait and see if fixes the crashes ppl have been seeing for Emby as well (@Sek0n)

Thanks for the post man, this solved my problem. I couldn’t get NZBDrone running for more than 60 seconds. Same exact stack trace, everything the same as this.

I downgraded my kernel from .53 down to .46 like you suggested and bewm problem solved. Good stuff, thanks a lot.

Good to see things have been figured out. I’d love to try the instructions for 14.04 but in case anything goes wrong I don’t really have easy access to the physical server at this moment to hook up a keyboard and screen to it. Can I expect the bugfix to be updated automatically over the following days/weeks?

I didn’t read all the posts but I am assuming you need access to the physical server to deal with the grub menu?

I didn’t have access to my physical server, only remote access. It was a bit sketchy and I definitely knocked on wood, but here’s how I did it.

  • Installed kernel .46
    $ apt-get install linux-image-3.13.0-46-generic

  • Figure out which kernels are installed on ur system
    $ dpkg -l | grep linux-image
    $ apt-get remove $all_kernel_versions_from_previous_command_except_for_version_46
    You will see a message saying grub is broken or vmlinuz doesn’t exist or the symbolic link is busted
    $ sudo update-grub

  • “sudo update-grub” will look for the latest kernel you have installed (which at this point is .46) and will load up next time you reboot by default…Good luck

@sigmundfreund Ubuntu kernel releases are on a 3 week cycle. A public release is expected in just under 2 weeks.

@rizz2pro That would work yes. Although at this point it would either just install -proposed or wait for the actually release.

I will be waiting 2 weeks for the new fix… tried to install kernel 46 and 2 hours later I am back on regular booting kernal :stuck_out_tongue:

Do u happen to know if a fix is coming for debian as well? Or should I move the install to ubuntu if I plan to have it fixed fast?

Yes there’s also a fix for debian out, check the link to the debian bugreport in the first post for the version you have to install.

Just registered to let you know that upgrading the kernel stabilized Sonarr for me. Was receiving the NullReferenceException/Timer issue. Physical hardware, not virtual.

Now running:

  • Linux lpms 3.13.0-54-generic #91-Ubuntu SMP Tue May 26 19:15:08 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux (Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS/trusty)
  • AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T Processor / 8GB RAM
  • Sonarr 2.0.0.3212
  • Mono JIT compiler version 4.0.1 (tarball Thu May 28 09:08:28 UTC 2015)

It’s been running for two days rock solid.

Thanks for your hard work and cooperation with researching this issue, rather than brushing it off as “not my problem.” Refreshing.

Last post from me on this one, 10 days and only 1 crash, and that’s unrelated. I have some weird issue that seems to rarely pop up that gives me a Ubuntu file system error and that happens at the same time Sonarr crashes. Since it happened like 8 days ago, and I’ve tinkered heavily with the config since, I’m thinking I may have “solved” it. Either way the upgrade to the Ubuntu beta kernel completely solved the mono crashes. Thanks again for all your hard work.

are you using mhddfs? if so downgrade to 0.1.38 as there is a bug in .39

Hey guys, didn’t get to post about this earlier, was away for week.

The kernel fixes were released public last Thursday, so will be available to users via the normal OS update process.

I would like to thank those users that installed the -proposed kernels earlier to test them out. I appreciate your effort to validate it for me.
You might want to comment out or remove the -proposed entry in sources.list again just to be safe.

If someone still experiences these crashes, and you’re sure you are on the latest kernel, please open a new topic.
