Lost everything in the TV folder on Update?

No need to really respond … all my TV is gone and I have to re-add TV because even on refresh it still says I have stuff in the TV folder even tho it is empty…

Sonarr version (exact version):

I updated to 2.0.0.3953 - Mar 12 2016

Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):

Mono JIT compiler version 3.10.0 (tarball Wed Nov 5 12:50:04 UTC 2014)

OS:
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

Debug logs (posted to hastebin or similar):

ummm just a bunch of stuff saying missing /opt/NzbDrone/SHOWS now

and

16-3-16 22:37:16.3|Info|RecycleBinProvider|Recycling Bin has not been configured, deleting permanently. /opt/NzbDrone/SHOWS/XXXXXXXXXXXXX/Season 7/XXXXXXXXXXXX - S07E16…

and

16-3-21 05:39:44.4|Debug|DiskTransferService|Copy [/opt/NzbDrone/SHOWS/Psycho Pass/Psycho-Pass.S01E03.1080p.BluRay.x264-ANiHLS/anihls-psy.s01e03.1080p.bluray.mkv] > [/tmp/nzbdrone_update/nzbdrone_backup/SHOWS/Psycho Pass/Psycho-Pass.S01E03.1080p.BluRay.x264-ANiHLS/anihls-psy.s01e03.1080p.bluray.mkv]

Description of issue (if you think you’ve found a bug please include steps to reproduce):

  • updated to 2.0.0.3953
  • set Yes to “Remove failed downloads from download client history” ( not sure how this would cause this issue )
  • everything was fine untill at some point Sonarr maybe downloaded a new show then at some point or some kind of scheduled job kicked off
  • entire TV folder was empty

Possible issues:

  • something in the update ran some kind of job or task much later and decided to delete the entire TV folder
  • updated rm -Rf the /opt/NzbDrone folder that had my TV in it ( but I was able to watch something hours after update had to be some kind of post download or scheduled task …
  • something gliched in the recyclable bin feature ? ( Never used it )
  • maybe everything was moved to /tmp and after reboot we could play at lest one show… then later empty … I have no idea what happend…

Yikes. Of all the checks in place this si one we never thought of. We’ll definitely add a check to prevent setting your TV show root folder under Sonarr’s application directory (we already have one to warn if the configuration directory is).

The updater makes a backup of /opt/NzbDrone (into the tmp directory) then clears out all files and folders in it, this is the only reliable way to remove files no longer being used as things are renamed over time. The Sonarr installation directory isn’t meant to store anything except for files required to run Sonarr, Sonarr also stores its configuration in a separate directory.

Sonarr worn’t rescan a series if its folder is missing, this is to deal with network mounts being unavailable.
