I am so "angry" right now about sonnar

I was using Sickrage before, but my FreeNAS server died few weeks ago. I tired to administer it. I ordered QNAP. In The mean time I have discovered Sonnar. That was awesome feeling. I was so amassed and excited. I was so inpatient waiting for my QNAP to arrive to install it and start using it.

And in deed I liked it very much. Everything works fine. I like features and everything.

But I’ve got problem with indexers. KAT is blocked here. But the rest is private invitation only. So not torrent indexer for me. For NZB, after 2,5 hours same situation. I do not know what exactly I have to use.

Ans sadly I am going to bed with a thought that I am going to go back to SR which I do not want to do.

Of course I am not really angry. I am just sad.

The word you’re likely looking for is disillusioned. It felt like everything was going to be amazing, then reality kicked in. And now you’re discouraged and frustrated.

Some pointers:

  • KAT is gone, it’s been taken down about a month ago
  • You could try Rarbg as an alternative, Sonarr has direct api support for Rarbg
  • If that’s not enough you could try look at Jackett Public here. Like sickrage, it uses website-scraping instead of an api to access trackers. Sonarr only supports trackers that have an actual api. Please note that Jackett isn’t built or supported by us, so I can’t help out if you need help installing or configuring it.
  • If you have an usenet provider account/subscription then there are several free indexers available, I’d recommend to check out the reddit /r/usenet wiki for more information.

Thank you. After a lot of investigations and trials and few bucks spent, I’ve finally got it working with NZB.

I’d like to see (maybe it already exists?) a straightforward recommendation from team sonarr of a couple of combinations of usenet services including the indexing phase which definitely work. It seems like all conversations about this end at the usenet indexing stage, with language translating roughly to “good luck with that, pal”. I’m pretty much in the same boat as OP, sonarr was my shining star pre KAT death. After that, nothing but problems. RARBG works okay, but I don’t think I have any actual searching capabilities, only day-of grabs. I’ve been researching a usenet system (thinking Newshosting, is that a good one?) to ditch (now mostly useless) torrents, but, correct me if i’m out to lunch, it seems like i’ll be spending at least $100 CAD, and again- no one seems to have concrete info about usenet indexers. I don’t mind spending the $, but only if I know i’m going to have a setup which quietly gets me my content again.

I use NZBFinder.ws. I’ve purchased 10$/Year account with allow 5000 API calls a day. That is enough for my case. Although there is even free account possibility with limitations. This indexer finds everything I watch.

Any of the Newznab indexers listed in Sonarr should be good, especially the ones that require a donation, not because the free ones are bad, just because the donation ones get more attention from the moderators and are usually on more powerful machines because there is a steady stream of money to pay for them. There are a lot of good indexers, but a lot is personal preference, they pull from the same places so they should have the same content in most cases. 2 solid indexers is recommended to avoid all your eggs in one basket.

Providers wise you’ll want a main account and a block account (Black Friday deals are usually pretty good for blocks, so may be worth grabbing a small one and picking one up then). The providers we have referral codes for above are quite popular and either we’ve used them or they’re used by long term user’s that have used them and recommend them.

Thanks for all the info, guys! I really appreciate it.
