Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5252 OS: Windows 10
I’m using (or well, hoping to use) Sonarr to automatically get TV show torrents and I’m wondering about a few things.
First of all, my setup. I just torrent TV shows, watch them (on my PC), and then delete them. Nothing fancier than that, not keeping some big TV show folder or whatever.
How do I enable/disable automatic downloading of whatever TV show episodes?
How can I automatically only download AMZN.WEBRips, instead of downloading every other type of 1080p Web release as well? I don’t want those other releases with low bitrates.
How can I only download a new episode once it comes, instead of suddenly downloading episodes which I already downloaded, watched, and deleted?
Example: Just a few mins ago I wondering why I’m lagging and checked my torrent client and I saw why. All of a sudden I was downloading like 7 old episodes of NCIS.
pt 2 (just write in the keyword(s) that needs to be in place. You can add several, then any of the keywords will match (so not all are needed). In “Tags” you write what tag should be associated with this restriction, this too you just write in and call it whatever (e.g. write in Amazon, then all series that you tag with “Amazon” will require “amzn” as an example to be in the name of episodes to download.
That’s just an example, I don’t follow that series but used it as an example. Personally I use the same mechanism to look for HEVC encodes but you can filter on any text string that reliably will be in the episodes you’re after.
Correct, and Standard is your average episodic show, whereas Daily are shows like the various talk shows which aren’t episodic but rather come out at different intervals and the episodes are dated rather than E01, 2 etc.
Ok, I got another “problem” now.
How can I make Sonarr not create me a folder for the TV show I download?
Here’s what I mean:
While I’m downloading the torrent, it’ll go to a folder like this, like it should, that’s the default behavior if I were to just add the torrent to my torrent client normally.
But with Sonarr, once the download (and seeding) completes, it creates a new different folder and the TV show gets moved there like this:
You can turn of Completed Download Handling, but then Sonarr will never see episodes as complete because it never imported it.
You should instead separate where you torrent client downloads to from where Sonarr sorts files to (separate unsorted and sorted folders), you’d then point Plex, Kodi, etc at the sorted files and not worry about the unsorted ones.
What would be the downside of Sonarr not seeing episodes as complete?
What functionality would I lose? If it’s just the ability to track what episodes I’ve watched or something like that, I don’t mind. I use an other website to track my TV shows anyway (not that Sonarr is bad for that, I’m just used to this one, and got all my 100+ TV shows there already)
Also, you mention Plex, Kodi, etc, but I’d like to clarify that I don’t have anything like that.
I have a very basic setup, as said in OP: First of all, my setup. I just torrent TV shows, watch them (on my PC), and then delete them. Nothing fancier than that, not keeping some big TV show folder or whatever.
