Sonarr version (exact version): 3.0.3.668 Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows):6.6.0.161 OS: Ubuntu 18.04 Debug logs: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1aNdSbL1C_QLOo7xeeg_VB2MPsoiQO54l/view?usp=sharing Description of issue: I have enabled the connect api in Sonarr to tell Emby when new tv episodes are downloaded. Sonarr is not triggering the library update on the Emby side after a new episode is added to the library. I did a couple tests and this is what I have come up with. When Sonarr manages the episode process from start to finish the trigger is sent to Emby properly and Emby does the library update.
If I download a file with Sab and move the file into the tv series folder manually, then trigger a “refresh & scan” on the series it does not send the library trigger to Emby. I also changed the quality of the file that I manually added which should have triggered and Emby library update as well and that didn’t happen.
Like I said previously, we’re going to need to see those ((debug logs)). A screenshot of your Emby settings in Sonarr would also be useful (masking out account information).

Emby is processing the triggers it receives correctly. Sonarr sent 2 requests to update the library and I have 2 library updates on the Emby side.
The issue is Sonarr is not sending a library trigger when files are manually added to the library folder, or when the quality is changed, or when file names are updated. Sonarr only sends a trigger if Sonarr handles the file from start to finish, meaning i search in sonarr, it downloads through sab, then sonarr renames and moves the file to the library directory and sends the trigger.
If you look at my debug log episodes 10 and 8 of Prodigal Son were with Sonarr managing the entire process, both of those episodes trigger Emby. Episode 9 is the one I downloaded manually and put in the directory and forced Sonarr to scan the files. Episode 9 did not send the trigger to Emby to update the library.
Then you need to tell Emby to update. It’s never supposed to send notifications if it finds an existing file (a file in the series folder). If you use Manual Import in Sonarr to import it’ll send the notification because it imported it.
Sonarr will send updates after a rename if you rename the file via Sonarr, it won’t if you rename the file manually and rescan the series folder.
So using “refresh & scan” is not supposed to be the same as a file being imported? Even if the file didn’t exist in the folder before the scan was started?
Also, i have my connect settings set to tell emby when a quality is upgraded. Every file sonarr finds during a scan comes in as hdtv-1080p. I change each file to WEBDL-1080p, shouldn’t this qualify as a quality upgrade and trigger the emby library scan?
Correct, they are different things. If it doesn’t add an event to History during the import it won’t send a notification.
That’s an upgrade after import, so the same logic applies, it will only trigger if it upgrades it. Changing the quality in Sonarr won’t tell Emby to rescan, nor should it ever, nothing with the file has changed.
This will happen if the quality is not part of the file name and it’s resolution is 1080p.
