Download next 3 unwatched episodes

NZBDrone could download the first 3 episodes of a show and then once I have watched episode 1 in Plex or XBMC and it’s marked as watched episode 4 could start downloading in NZBDrone. This way we’d always have the next few episodes we want.

Interesting idea. It kinda depends on watched status though, which we intend to do via trakt. (see https://trello.com/c/v0MyY4Mv/157-trakt-integration)

I’ve added your suggestion to the checklist, we’ll see if it’s possible to implement.

This sounds overly complicated, especially when files aren’t always 100% available depending on the series and take downs.

Why wouldn’t you want everything to be grabbed and waiting? and possibly deleting it after its been watched https://trello.com/c/0eiAYXSg/240-auto-delete-episodes-after-certain-criteria-is-met

Markus, I’m thinking for people who don’t watch plenty of episodes in a row and don’t have that much storage available.

As always, I’d say make the # a config option.

Also, maybe make it an option to be automagic or manual per series?

Thats Monitored status.

Not quite.

What I was thinking is ‘I watched s01e03 of Sons of Anarchy, so now Drone goes and grabs eps 4, 5, 6, but not more’

That’s a little different than monitored.

I think this would be a good extra feature, but low priority.

Yeah, working it through trakt integration should work well. Thanks for adding it to the list

I was going to put in a feature request for this very idea. I like the idea of gradually downloading episodes as needed, automatically. For folks with a monthly data cap this would help avoid consuming it all in a few days.

Of course you can just download a few episodes or a season at a time, but the best part of Sonarr is that it can automate the whole process.

It’s also handy for non-technical members of the household. My wife texts me she wants to watch some new show. I pop into Sonarr remotely and add the show, and it downloads episodes “on demand”.

I haven’t used trakt yet as I haven’t needed to, but happy to if this feature will rely on it.
