I decided to convert my catalog to MP4, and in doing so I am having Handbrake convert them at the same quality and resolution. MB3 sees them as 720 but NZBDrone is seeing them as SD quality. What are the criteria for determining the quality?
Drone currently uses the file name, looking for source (HDTV, WEBDL, etc) and resolution (720p, 1080p, etc), failing to find those, it would use the extension to determine the quality, since mp4 is most often associated with SDTV x264 it would treat it as SDTV.
Examples:
The.Series.S01E01.720p.WEBDL
= WEBDL 720p
The.Series.S01E01.HDTV
= SDTV
The Series - S01E01.mkv
= HDTV 720p
The Series - S01E01.avi
= SDTV
Thank you for the clarification.
I am in the same boat. I am using Plex and converted everything to MP4 for no transcode streaming to all my Apple devices.
How do I change the mp4 association to a higher resolution?
The easiest way it to have the quality as part of the file name. Currently you can change the detected quality an episode at a time only, via the episode modal then clicking on the quality beside the filename. This card on Trello will be for changing the quality of a entire season at once: https://trello.com/c/75MOaJ92/397-change-parsed-quality-for-entire-season
Without changing the underlying code there is no way to change the quality that mp4 is detected at.
nzbdrone seems like such a great program and hits some marks that sickbeard doesn’t. But is so off on things that matter that I can’t justify switching at this time.
I spend too much time converting the mkv to mp4 and the contsant re-downloading of files to get a better resolution is a show stopper.
@mjr0483 did you find another solution? I just ran into the same “issue” - and it’s been more than a year without any progress on this end for sonarr.
