Description of issue:
Some of the series that come in ultrawide end up being hard letterboxed to fit 16:9 displays with no indication in the filenames. Watching the video on an ultrawide monitor also adds in pillarboxing and the video will be a strip with a thick black border. Some series I haven’t found releases without the letterboxing even after 3 or 4 tries, and not everything even has that many.
Is there a solution/workaround that already exists, or do some studios actually hardcode letterboxes in their streaming and bluray releases?
Edit: So one of my friends does his own rips and told me that it is usually the difference of actually ripping the disc or downloading the media files from the streaming service vs intercepting the hdmi and recording that to a file. I don’t know if there is a givaway for bluray source but for streaming he told me to grab web-dl instead of webrip and so far that does it.
