Do you find your hard drive space rapidly running out with your ever expanding media collection? Do you regret choosing “Any”, “HD-1080p” or “HD - All” as your profile for all your shows? Do you wish and pray for options in Sonarr’s settings to manage your current content? Then fear not, for with this post I am requesting the following features for all of us to behold!
An option for replacing the current resolution of video files with a lower resolution file in order to free up space on our HDD’s and where 1080p is no longer needed, like on the shows we may not watch again/for some time,
It would be similar to the Season Pass in function that you can select single or multiple shows and/or series and apply multiple effects to them. It would allow you to choose single shows/multiple shows/all shows and/or single seasons/multiple seasons/all seasons and then let you set what resolution these selections should be.
Just like changing a Shows Profile to a higher resolution will result in Sonarr seeking out an upgrade and deleting the old one. We want to instead take the so called “upgrade” and change that to a sleeker version.
This idea would tie in with the Profiles and Quality features already in place.
We don’t have plans to support multiple profiles per series (we’ve have an open issue for a profile per season, but its not something we’re working towards at the moment), but you can achieve downgraded qualities by inverting the qualities in the profile (or dragging them in the order you please).

That is the feature. So taking current local 1080p files, find 720p replacement. download, delete 1080p.
I’m talking more about content that is already fetched, but 1080p.
I’m talking about an function to see your 1080p content, see if you can get 720p instead and if you can grab the 720p and delete the 1080p. Just like what already happens when you have 720p and it grabs a 1080p when that becomes available.
I’m just dreaming of an automated process to downgrade my media collection within Sonarr.
My only intention with this request was in case other people had the same thing happening to them, maybe even a dev. Who knows.
