Automatic redownload is off - now blocklist and search is broken

Sonarr version (exact version): 4.0.15.2941
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): I don’t have Mono
OS: Unraid v7.1.4
Debug logs: I don’t think this is a bug.
Description of issue: This may belong under “feature requests,” but I’m 90% sure I’m doing things wrong. I just started using Usenet and Sabnzbd and it’s a game-changer! However, I’m having some issues with configuration.

With torrents, I have Sonarr set to add them to my client in a paused state. This ensures that I don’t miss any new releases, but also allows me to manually reject unwanted “upgrades,” such as foreign-language releases.

There does not seem to be any such option for NZB releases. Either they are added to the client in an active state, or they are ignored. This is a problem for me, because the only way to prevent unwanted downloads is to only run Sabnzbd when I’m at my computer with the web terminal open, and to otherwise leave the entire client in a paused state. This mostly defeats the purpose of having an auto-downloader that manages my library when I’m away.

I figured the next best option would be to go to my Download Client settings and disable automatic redownloading, which I did. This way, I can add a bunch of stuff, walk away, and if I’m worried about Sonarr grabbing random foreign-language releases, I can just check the very end of my Sabnzbd history and look for anything I don’t recognize, then delete those few files manually.

Now, when I reject a completed download and select “blocklist and search” from the dropdown list, Sonarr does not run a search. I have to go back into the series and manually trigger a new search for whatever episode(s) I rejected.

Is there a way to have automatic redownloading off for failed downloads, but also allow the “blocklist and search” function to work as intended?

Again, sorry if this belongs under “feature requests.” But Google has become useless in recent years, and I’ve got to believe this is an existing feature that I just haven’t figured out.

You’re likely going to want to spend some time learning and setting up your Quality Profiles and Custom Formats the way you want, so the releases you don’t want aren’t grabbed in the first place.

Having everything grabbed and added paused and you having to manually filter and approve them is not really automation.

As to the actual issue you raised, if it is indeed not working as intended or advertised, that would actually be a bug. And logs would be needed to see what is or is not happening when you choose that action. However, for what you’re intending, setup your QP and CF.
