Automatic Import of Non-Automated Downloads

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.5321
OS: Windows Server 2016

Hey Guys -

I just wanted to ask a couple of questions about automating import of some media, please. Below is a description followed by questions. Thanks!

As I’m sure many do, I get episodes from sources other than indexers within Sonarr such as PlayOn, web downloads, youtube, etc. In the far past, I could simply dump these files into the Drone Factory folder and Sonarr would take care of things from there. Knowing it’s been listed as depreciated and not in v3, I haven’t used the feature in quite a while so have been adding these episodes by choosing “Manual Import” in Wanted, scanning a folder, checking boxes, and importing. This works, but obviously doesn’t have the automation Drone Factory had.

Questions

  1. Is there any method to have (properly named) episodes as described above automatically imported simply by moving them to a specific folder - without using Manual Import
  2. If no to the above, are there are CLI or scripting options which I could use to script something to emulate this action?
  3. Why was Drone Factory depreciated exactly? I searched, but couldn’t find a good answer

Keep up the good work - Thanks!

  1. No
  2. Use the API, more info on the wiki
  3. https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/wiki/Health-Checks#drone-factory-is-deprecated (linked from the v2 UI)
