American Dad Season 14 is confused?

Sonarr version (exact version): 2.0.0.4389
Mono version (if Sonarr is not running on Windows): 4.2.2 (Stable 4.2.2.30/996df3c Mon Feb 15 17:30:30 UTC 2016)
OS: Debian
Description of issue:

American Dad! Season 14 is shown in Sonarr as Season 14 but when you hover the mouse over each individual episode number it shows it as “Season 13”. When you do a manual search for the episodes it results in showing episodes for Season 13 and the logs indicate it is searching indexers for season 13.

This season “off by one” goes back to Season 1 and Season 2. If you look at Season 1 and hover over each episode number it shows “Season 1” but if you do the same on Season 2 it still says “Season 1”, so every season after Season 2 is off by 1 and is now causing issues when attempting to download episodes for Season 14 (13).

Some of the places Sonarr gets the info from say it’s Season 13, some say 14. any idea how to correct this?

It’s correct, it’s using thexem.de to remap them (as explained in the ((FAQ))). Also lots of threads here about it:

https://forums.sonarr.tv/search?q=american%20dad

Okay, I understand that aspect of it but if it’s correct why is Sonarr reporting that it’s Season 14 and then also reporting that it’s Season 13 when you mouse over the episode number? That seems a bit confusing, even if it is correctly identifying the season, it shouldn’t say that 1 episode is 2 different seasons, right?

Because the TVDB season is season 14, but they’re being released as season 13. Sonarr shows the mapping there so they’re known and some people use to verify that the mapping has been added properly.

Makes sense, thanks for the info.

One more question though, if it’s reporting as Season 14 and is mapped to 13 via Thexem.de then why wouldn’t Sonarr grab a listing and download it if the file says it’s S14E01?

Because the mapping overrides it, season 13 episode 1 maps to season 14 episode 1 both ways, Sonarr will also search for season 13 episode 1 if you try to search for season 14 episode 1.

Also, when season 15 comes out season 14 will be mapped to it so if it accepted it as them being the same then it could mess everything up like grabbing season 14 episode 1 for what Sonarr knows as season 14 episode 1 because the mapping didn’t yet exist to map season 15 to season 14.

So how do you stop Sonarr from grabbing the wrong files? Because so far, for every episode of “season 14” it has grabbed the episode from “season 13”. Even if you look at the screenshot below, you can see that it is listing episodes that were released from last year (I.E. the previous season). So how do we get Sonarr to stop grabbing those ones?

Ignore VisUM (must not contain) in the Release Restrictions settings and Sonarr will not grab releases that contain that term.

markus could you add an option to blacklist a release from the manual search results shown above, right now i am adding to nzbget then going back and blacklisting the release on sonarr

@dazed why do you do that? Blacklist was a poor word choice given there is a separate blacklist for Sonarr, but I meant use Must not contain instead.

Can’t ignore VisUM as they are the only group releasing WED-DL of American Dad they just use TVDB over Scene, the latest from a few hours ago “American.Dad.S14E05.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-ViSUM”

I mean why do you need to send a release to nzbget and then blacklist it?

Which isn’t compatible with Sonarr, so you need to blacklist them if you don’t want them to replace old episodes.

If i didn’t blacklist it prior to release sonarr was picking it up thinking it was the correct episode

If you’re doing that why not just ignore visum completely? Otherwise they would continue to cause issues.

Can’t completely ignore visum as they are the only group who release 1080p WEB-DL for the show

Yeah you said that, but it’s done with a numbering format that is not compatible with Sonarr so it’s never going to grab them and link them to the correct episodes.

You can either ignore them and not have them conflict with thexem.de mapping and have Sonarr treat them as last season or leave them as-is and have them conflict and deal with them some other way.

Sonarr does grab them and link them correctly, the above image is last week all the episodes i added to blacklist and it grabbed the “American.Dad.S14E04.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.H.264-ViSUM” when it seen it

Ahh right, because the scene is a season behind the episodes in season 14 can pick up the visum releases until season 15 is added to TheTVDB. Searching won’t include them (and will pick up the previous seasons releases, if there are any). Only partially broken, not completely broken as I was thinking.

I’m thinking if i add something like this

It should pick up the releases i’m after?

Interesting use of that… yeah that would work for the current season and would just need to be updated for season 15.
