Adding anime to sonarr, it can't find files on disk

Sonarr version: 2.0.0.5344
Mono version: 6.10.0.104
OS: Ubuntu 18.04

Hi there,

I’m quite new to sonarr, but I’m attempting to add some Anime with it, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag.

If I add the anime Fire Force from horriblesubs, it finds all the episodes for season 1 and season 2 using the following naming convention:

[HorribleSubs] Enen no Shouboutai - 24 [720p].mkv
[HorribleSubs] Enen no Shouboutai S2 - 01 [720p].mkv

So it finds the naming for season 2 and all is great. But when I add The Heroic Legend Of Arslan that uses the same naming convention, it only finds those of season 1, and all those files for seasons 2 doesn’t get imported.

[HorribleSubs] Arslan Senki - 25 [720p].mkv
[HorribleSubs] Arslan Senki S2 - 01 [720p].mkv

It doesn’t recognize the S2. However, if I decide to delete the [HorribleSubs] Arslan Senki S2 - 01 [720p].mkv and download that episode and add it to deluge manually, it picks up that episode under season 2 and shows it being downloaded and once it’s download, it gets moved and shows up under season 2.

I do notice I have some kind error in the logfile when I scan, but I’m not sure whats wrong. Any idea what is going on here?

Logfile

Edit:
I just noticed I have the same problem with Food Wars! Shokugeki No Soma. when importing, it finds season 1, but I have 4 seasons with it, they have same naming convention as the above. But if I search through sonarr and it downloads, it works. But those importing from disk remains unseen by sonarr, the name are identicall, but this time I don’t see any errors in the log. So not sure that log I pasted is relevant at all.

The files will either need to be named in the “standard” format (S02E01) or follow TheTVDB’s absolute numbering, Sonarr doesn’t support per-season absolute episode numbers inside the series folder.

You might be right. But something is not quite right then, because I have it working on Fire Force (it could import) for example. Also, it works on Log Horizon, Arslan Senki, Shokugeki No Soma if I ask Sonarr to download it. It just doesn’t work during a regular import, so whats up with that? Here’s screenshots that proves it.

I can’t say why it worked for those, but it shouldn’t have given how they’re named.

Results on indexers are different, which is why I specifically said “inside the series folder”. Release names from indexers/download clients or files outside the series folder will use scene names and numbering from thexem.de to map to episodes as they are listed in Sonarr (and on TheTVDB).

Hm alright. Seems so weird that it finds them using indexers but not otherwise from files. I mean, your explanation explains it perfectly, but is there a reason sonarr doesn’t support both? I mean, since it can map them from the indexers anyways, seems like it could use the same database to map the episodes during import.

Anyways, thanks for the explanation, even if it’s kinda sad that it only works that way. Seems like it would help a lot at least for the Anime bits if it did.
