Access Sonarr from internet (Ubuntu)

For some reason I cannot access sonarr from the internet. I have sonarr installed on ubuntu. Port 8081 is forwarded to the correct ip address. I can access my external hdd, couchpotato, sabnzbd and sickbeard (when it was installed) from the outside the network but for some reason cannot access sonarr. Sickbeard has since been removed and sonarr in its place.

Can you access it from another system on the same LAN?

Yes I can. Just cannot access from outside the network.

Did you try another port besides 8081? I had a similar issue which came down to the firewall at work considering that particular port to be “unsafe”…

Yes I did try the default port given 8989. I tried it from my phone and had my buddy tried it, no go.

As long as you can access it from another computer on the LAN then its setup to work from anywhere, just needs the appropriate port forwarded on the router, at least from the Sonarr perspective. Not sure if there is a firewall that would filter it out.

hmmm this is weird. I don’t have a firewall installed on ubuntu. I change the ports again see if I can get it working. Thanks markus!
