Why is Sonarr SYMLINKING download?

So a couple days ago I noticed when it downloads a tv show into my download directory, it adds a symlinked folder inside the folder back to itself. The target is:

%ComSpec% /C START “Westworld.S01E07.WEBRip.x264-FUM.mp4” “Westworld.S01E07.WEBRip.x264-FUM.mp4”

What’s going on?

It doesn’t, something else must be.

Crazy. Thanks!

im having the exact same issues here. started a few days ago.

That doesn’t look like a symlink, but a shortcut, but a shortcut (still nothing Sonarr would create), it was definitely created by something other than Sonarr.

Its definitely something with sonarr, I just don’t know what yet. I’ve been using sickrage on this system for over 2 years and recently moved to Sonarr and I’ve now started seeing shortcuts to the same folder in the processing folder for my downloads. I have utorrent and SABNBZ for downloads they move their completed files into the processing folder (which its always done for sickrage. …and somehow a shortcut suddenly ends up in there and breaks and further processing my Sonarr because it can’t find the files…The only thing I can think of is the media management importing. Use hardlinks instead of copy…that seems like the most reasonable cause that I can figure out.

A hard link isn’t a symlink though, a hard link are two pointers to the same file, deleting either doesn’t affect the other file and nothing built into Sonarr does symlinking.

Is SR still running, my understanding is it supports symlinks and could be causing issues.

Seems to me like simply a malicious torrent/nzb download. Containing a shortcut to goat ppl in executing it. The shortcut uses CMD /C START to run itself if ppl click on the shortcut.
You should check which download it comes from and which indexer.
