Ive tried about 6 of the torrent clients and only 3 of that 6 worked…sorta. Transmission, qbittorrent and vuse. Transmission doesnt have an option to bind to vpn adapter(that I saw) and had very slow download speeds. Qbit will add the downloads but fails after that. And vuse is a bloated pos. I didnt try the torrent clients that you have to compile but if there was one that both worked and could bind to vpn I would try to compile it. I cant help but think if sonarr just focused on one or two clients but worked with those that would be an improvement.
utorrent, Deluge and Transmission were the initial clients when torrent support was added. The rest was added by external contributors.
The best client for you depends on your preferences and requirements and we don’t recommend a particular one.
But the problem is that utorrent and deluge dont work anymore. And while transmission works its not that great for the reasons I listed above.
Deluge works fine for me. Transmission works fine for others… no issue with slow downloads, that’s usually an issue with connectivity and protocol selection.
I use Deluge as well, Transmission was slow as was rTorrent, but Deluge can really go. Had no issues setting it up in Sonarr either.
