What settings do I need to have for Sonarr to move, not copy my shows?

First, my setup. I have a Mac mini running El Cap which is always on running Sonarr. My shows are on an external HD. I use Transmission for my BitTorrent client.

What I’d like Sonarr to do: Add the torrent to Transmission which downloads to my internal HD, when it’s finished downloading move (not copy) the show to the right folder on the external. Do some magic to make sure the show continues to seed in Transmission. When seeding is complete remove the torrent from Transmission.

What happens is Sonarr adds the torrent to Transmission like it’s supposed to, which downloads to my internal HD. When it’s finished downloading Sonarr copies (not moves) the show to the correct folder on my external HD. Transmission finishes seeding and removes the torrent when complete. The files are left on my internal HD taking up valuable space (I have a tiny SSD).

Can anybody help me?

Sonarr won’t move a seeding torrent, it will always copy in your scenario.

You can either enable Remove Completed Downloads in Sonarr to delete the torrent and files after seeding is complete or do it directly in Transmission (if it supports such a feature), the former will ensure its imported before deleting though.

Thanks for the reply.

I’ve always had Remove Completed downloads enabled. I’m wondering if there are any other settings that would overrule this in Sonarr or Transmission?

If Transmission is removing the torrent it will need to remove the files as well, or let Sonarr handle it. If Transmission removes the torrent when seeding finishes there is no way Sonarr can delete the files.

I see what you mean. I’ll turn off removing seeded downloads in Transmission and see what happens.

That appears to have fixed it! Thanks a lot.
