Upgrading to v3

Sonarr version ( 2.0.0.5344 ):

Windows 10:

Updating:

I am not sure if this was asked before, but it probably was. Can I update my current version listed above to the latest version of Sonarr without losing any settings?

Also, if TheTVDB is going to be charging for their service in a few months, would this cause a problem with Sonarr and the way the TV Shows are added etc.?

Thank you for your support. Much appreciated.

yes. just install it into the same location

if you arent sure then;

  • make a manual backup of the database through sonarr
  • shut down sonarr
  • take a copy of the config.xml file (this is where the settings are)
  • install v3

should anything go wrong you can reinstall v2 and put those back

isn’t the backup option through sonarr a full backup ? i mean settings, indexers etc. Why do we need the config.xml, isn’t included in that backup ?

should be there yes, perhaps open it and check, its just a zip file

its in my v3 backups but i have a really old v2 manual backup from when i converted and for whatever reason the config.xml file is not in there.

it cant hurt to check and/or make your own

Like to know this myself.

this has been answered on previous threads (that are now closed). Mods said that they are on it and when it is the time , announcements will be made.

sorry, i dont have a mac so im not sure.

does if have the config.xml, nzbdrone.pid, logs.db and nzbdrone.db? if it does then its probably the right folder.

I know with the old version of Sonarr I have it installed as a Windows service, but with this new version I believe I can’t do that anymore since I am using remote paths? Therefore, do I still just install it the same way, and would it ask me if I want to install Sonarr as a service?

Thank you again in advance.

someone else was doing the same thing, see Completed Download Handling - QBittorrent - wrong path - #9 by rhom

they appear to have made it work by changing the scheduled task from running as localservice to an account that has access to that UNC path.

you can probably ask them to clarify exactly what they did if you want to test it.
