TVDB Offline... how does this impact Sonarr

The TVDB is offline for an unspecified amount of time according to their website. Any idea how to proceed considering Sonarr’s dependence on it?

But yes, thetvdb api is down for a few hours now, nothing to worry about.

Sonarr uses a proxy we call skyhook, which contains a cache of the series & episode info. Adding new series by name isn’t possible, coz we use thetvdb search api, but adding by tvdbID is possible (using the query tvdb:12345).

I keep trying to connect to tvdb to admin a show but it’s been out for several days now, hasn’t it?

I’m also having issues looking up shows by name.

Unfortunately for me I’m trying to get set up after a fresh OS install, so it’s not just one or two shows failing to work, but most of my catalogue.

The thetvdb site is not working either, so I can’t look up the ids to manually add the series either.

I found this (http://www.tvmaze.com/blogs/21/an-alternative-when-the-thetvdb-api-is-down) when searching for answers… any chance of getting a fallback or selectable alternative for such occasions?

Taloth is correct in that I posted the incorrect URL. Since I posted the original topic they have come back online and I was able to add the series I was trying but as you both mentioned they are down at the moment. They must be doing a lot of maintenance on the site.

yeah the thetvdb.com has a lot of issues over the last couple of days. Sad that this is the only source so far. tvmaze i think is something of a good alternative to consider.

Seems like sense this happened a lot of us still cannot search for series. Any update on this?

Their beta site appears to be up – platypus.thetvdb.com. Searching for and finding the series tvdbID might work – then search Sonarr with the ID.
