Toggle monitor issue

Hi there,

As many I guess, I made the switch from Sickbeard to Sonarr. I came across some issue and perhaps bugs that I will post here in separate posts to keep it easy for others to search.

As I finished the installation, I pointed Sonarr to my series folder. The import works quite well although some series are not found on TVDB by Sonarr while Sickbeard did. (e.g. Buurman En Buurman, En Toen Kwam Ons Ma Binnen). I can life with that for now, but I wonder why.

I started checking the status of the imported series and I saw that for most (all?) existing episodes and seasons the monitor was toggled off. This is fine too. The unexpected part is that only for the last season the monitor toggle is on but each episode within this season was toggle off. This seems wrong to me?

When you added the series you were given a choice what you wanted monitored. :wink:

But fret not, you can fix it all up in bulk in the Season Pass function accessible via the main Series page.

Thanks for your reply but that’s not the point :wink:

The point is, why would the season monitor toggle be ON while none of the episodes in this season are? More over, only the last season has this.

Edit:What might be related, when the season monitor is enabled, and the series monitor disables, the season will still show up as monitored in the Season Pass.

After Sonarr unmonitors all the episodes in a season, when adding the series then unmonitoring episodes based on the Monitoring rule set when adding it should unmonitor any season where all the episodes are ignored, except for the latest season.

This is expected, toggle the season monitored status toggles all episodes, if you went along and customized how you wanted old episodes to be monitored then toggled the monitored status of the series all those changes would be lost.

The episode and the series need to be monitored for it to be grabbed automatically or show up in missing/the calendar.

Thanks for your reply. I’m not sure if I understand you correctly.

Are you confirming what I wrote earlier as being correct? I bullet the facts one more time:

  • I add an existing series from my data storage
  • all episodes for all seasons are available
  • Sonarr will unmonitor all episodes
  • Sonarr will unmonitor all seasons accept the last season

This is what I experienced and I just don’t understand why this would be what I want.

This depends entirely on which option you chose when adding the series. If you chose Missing or Future then this would be expected because you have all the files or for Future you don’t care about previous episodes.

If all the episodes are unmonitored, then yes, the season should be monitored, the latest season is a bit of a special case because in some cases all episodes are unmonitored but new episodes are still coming out (and haven’t been added to TheTVDB yet) and unmonitoring the season would cause all future episodes to be unmonitored.

OK, that I understand but my mistake I completely forgot to mention it is an ended series!
