The Drone, config/setup help!

NZBDrone great so far, a few questions. Really appreciate any help!!

I received some errors on “file renaming” on windows 8. So I turned renaming off in drone. However, I’m also seeing totally random .mp4 file names… which torques other programs like XBMC. Aka, they can’t figure out what the hell the file is.

When the files are moved out of sab_complete why can’t they be renamed at that point? Any idea on why am I seeing random mp4 file names likes asdf8asdf0asdf23kjqrFJFU&FHA.mp4?

I deleted the random file names above, but, they don’t “come back to life” in nzbdrone under the “wanted” area. Why is that? In the settings, “ignore deleted episodes” is set to No (which i was hoping would force Drone to put the files back to wanted)

How do I manually add videos from torrents? Right now, I’m using utorrent and have a utorrent_incomplete and utorrent_complete directory. Should I just use NSBdrone’s “Import existing series on disk” feature and point it to the complete directory?

Lastly, I’m using geek and OZ indexers. I can’t get a dog invite. How big of a problem is this? E.g., would my life be a lot easier if i had a dog account?

Struggling to get this all squared away. Thank you!

  1. 1: No one is likely to be able to help you unless you post the actual error messages or log entries you get. And an actual file name could help too, instead of the one you just smashed into your keyboard.
  2. 2: Drone doesn’t keep monitoring existing files as far as I know. If you manually delete a file, you need to tell Drone to refresh the series.
  3. 3: You can use the Drone Factory in your settings, or you can simply move the files to your series folder and rescan it, then if needed rename the new file using Drone. Importing series on disk that way would not be a good idea because it would keep the series in that location and download new episodes there too, when you probably want to move it somewhere else after post-processing.
  4. 4: The better your indexer, the more you’ll find. If you can’t make enough API calls to your indexer to satisfy Drone, you won’t find half of your stuff. If you can make loads of calls but the indexer doesn’t index enough data, you won’t get your stuff. Public indexers usually aren’t very good.
  1. Knowing the errors would be helpful. Sounds the the releases are using hashed filenames and drone just copies them over as-is, so you’d want to keep renaming on to avoid that.

  2. If Ignore Deleted Episodes is set to no drone will detect the file was deleted when you force a refresh as @NMe said or it automatically rescans after 12 hours.

Nzbgeek is a good indexer that indexes files fast,
I post some times some files and the first indexer was actually a public one,
After that all the paid indexers index them at the same time.
For the hashed file name issue I use nzbtomedia as a PP script,
It will check the filename if it’s hashed it will check for reverse filename and if it isn’t a reverse filename it will rename the file as the nzb name because those are mostly the correct release name.
