TAR files and Sonarr

Hi guys,

So I started this thread but now it’s been archived:
https://forums.sonarr.tv/t/files-not-post-processed-stuck-at-100-download/?source_topic_id=12886

I’m really having a problem with Sonarr not being able to process compressed files.

Sonarr displays this annoying behaviour:
The file download is stuck at 100%… now I know this means that the chosen download was a compressed file (normally a TAR).
So first of all, I gotta go navigate through hundreds of folders to find the culprit in order to manually extract the files… thus defeating the “automating” purpose of Sonarr.
But what’s far more annoying: very often Sonarr sees a partially extracted files, and imports it… so when it is transferred to my media library (and picked up by PLEX), it’s a partial file that’s transferred!!

So I have to manually delete the file and go through a manual import, or manually override the file in my media library folder.

Therefore, I have to shutdown Sonarr, then extract the file, then restart Sonarr.

This is really annoying and I’m thinking of going back to SickRage, which handled the compressed files with no problem whatsoever.

Is there any work-around this? Or projected fix?

Taloth pretty much covered it there, there isn’t a silver bullet to solve it.

  • You could extract to a separate folder and import from there.
  • Use indexers that don’t RAR files (easier said than done I’m sure).

The projected fix was linked by Taloth in the thread you linked.
